'NCIS': Director Vance Must Choose Between Family And Duty

On " NCIS " (Tue., 8 p.m. ET on CBS) Director Vance ( Rocky Carroll ) was torn between his duty at work and loyalty to his family after his brother-in-law Michael was implicated in a murder investigation. Michael had always felt like a son to Vance, and so he helped him by advising that he had to convince Special Agent Gibbs ( Mark Harmon ) of his innocence. However, Gibbs had discovered Michael's sealed criminal record, and when his interrogation became harsh, Vance crossed a line by stepping in and stopping it. "Michael, don't say another word," he warned. Outside, Vance then told Harmon to look at another suspect instead, adding, "I'm not satisfied with the job you're doing." An angry Gibbs challenged him about Michael's record, saying "You lied to me Leon!" The drama continues on "NCIS," Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS . NCIS Finale Teaser: Ducky to Play Key Role?

With NCIS officially renewed for next fall , talk has turned to how the current season will end. Long story short: Get ready for an episode featuringa major cliffhanger and binding together the lives of multiple characters. Would you expect anything else from NCIS? We know that Ziva's relationship with her mentor and friend will be explored this spring and factor heavily into the finale, which is being painted as a character-centric puzzle in which various pieces come together. How will the other characters fit in?

NCIS to Explore Ziva's Relationship With Mentor

As we first talked about last week, a longtime friend and mentor of Ziva’s, played by Karina Lombard ( Rescue Me, The L Word ), becomes involved in a case being worked on by the team on NCIS . What's the premise for her arrival next month? “We established in the [Season 9] opener that she has this friend who she was going to talk to and see,” says executive producer and show-runner Gary Glasberg. “In this episode, we’re actually going to meet this woman, who is a friend of Ziva’s who shares a bit of big sister relationship with her.” The April episode sends the team to Colombia to investigate the case of a missing Navy chaplain. “She participates with us and helps us figure it out. Along the way, you get an understanding of the relationship [ between Ziva and her friend ],” he said, teasing that it plays into a much bigger picture. All this, Glasberg tells Entertainment Weekly , is just a piece of the character-centric puzzle they’re putting together that will come into play heavily in the ninth season finale this May. “[Ziva] is realizing that she’s made decisions along the way. She has to decide how important a relationship is to her and what she really wants from her life too,” he says. “It’s nice to be nine and a half seasons into a show and feel like the characters are still figuring out who they are. I feel like there’s a long way to go. It is realistic.” NCIS was just renewed for Season 10 yesterday by CBS.

NCIS: Heading to Florida For Palmer's Wedding!

Jimmy Palmer’s much-awaited nuptials now have a destination on NCIS: Florida! “Breena’s character is from Florida, so the plan is to have this wedding in Florida,” NCIS executive producer and show-runner Gary Glasberg reveals to EW . “The whole team will, in theory, all head down for that." "At the same time," he says of Palmer's wedding, which has been teased here and there since " Newborn King " in December, "there will be some significant stuff back in D.C. It’ll be a juggling act between the two.” Read More...

Sean Astin Teases NCIS Guest Appearance

Fans largely reacted well to Jamie Lee Curtis' debut on NCIS last month. Next week, her second outing will likely prove to be even better, because the episode also marks the debut of Sean Astin's character. Astin, of Lord of the Rings and Rudy fame, plays a fellow PsychOps investigator who comes in to assist on a case. Like Curtis, he could possibly guest in more than one episode of TV's top-rated drama. Speaking to EW, he had nothing but praise for the show, and for Curtis. Astin offered some insight on the budding relationship between Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Curtis' Dr. Samantha Ryan, and how it will effect their respective teams on Tuesday's all-new episode. "The fun thing is, Cote [de Pablo] and Michael Weatherly and me - as the corollary on Jamie's side of the equation - are a little unsettled that their bosses might be having the start of a romantic something or other," he says. "They're usually so focused on what they're doing and have a very sober approach to life. And now there's something going on and we're all a little uneasy. We're like the uncomfortable kids whose parents might be dating." While there will surely be some great lines / character moments, the episode is action-packed as well. "I got to see some action! There was some discussion about whether or not I got to carry a firearm. And I do!" Astin says.
