Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County, also known simply as Newport Harbor, is the replacement show of MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. Just like its predecessor, the show documents the lives of several teenagers living in Newport Beach, California, a beachside community located in Orange County, California that was made popular by FOX's The O.C.. It differs from the usual reality show in that it is structured as a traditional narrative (seen more commonly in fictionalized television dramas or soap operas) than a straightforward observant documentary. Along side with Laguna's hit spin-off, The Hills (which is to premiere its third season on August 13, 2007), Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County is due to premiere on August 15, 2007.
