Tonight is an exciting night of premieres and returns! One such return is that of Nip/Tuck , which is finally resuming it's 5th season. To remind you of where we left off, our favorite aging-but-still-hot plastic surgeons relocated themselves to glitzy LA, where all of their trouble and more seemed to follow them. Sean thought it a good idea to pursue a stage career where he landed a role on hit TV show Hearts 'N Scalpels. Much to Christian's chagrin, Sean gains a reasonable amount of fame. In the meantime, Matt marries Kimber and the two become unhappily married drug addicts - accidental meth fire included. They fail to do anything else of note for these 14 episodes. Julia becomes a lesbian and dates Olivia Lord, whose daughter Eden (AnnaLynne McCord of 90210 ) is evil incarnate. She seduces and sleeps with Sean as well as begins poisoning Julia. If the poisoning wasn't enough, Eden finally shoots Julia and she [Julia] subsequently develops amnesia. The half-season concludes with Sean's crazy agent Colleen turning out to not be an agent at all, but a themed-teddy-bear-stand owning psychopath. Christian and Annie (Sean's daughter) get into a paparazzi-induced accident, but as Sean is about to operate on Annie, is brutally stabbed by crazy Colleen. Yes, the season concludes with one of the docs in mortal peril for the umpteenth time... Sounds especially ridiculous in writing, doesn't it? I've also had an opportunity to check out the first new episode, "Ronnie Chase", and while the show is still lacking some of the originality and excitement of its earlier days, it appears at least for the time-being to be back on track. The crazy Colleen story gets wrapped up satisfactorily and in not too much time. In this episode, some characters who I intensely disliked in the first part of the season (Olivia, Eden, Julia, Kimber) did not even appear and others (Matt) seem to be taking a more tolerable direction. Because of his attack, Sean is temporarily out of commission and pursuing some other opportunities, and Christian is diagnosed with a somewhat unique health concern. That's all you're going to get from me! So...now you're officially ready for Season 5, Part 2! Excited?

Already worrying about the long, cold winter months ahead? Well, FX has released the premiere dates for two of its hottest shows, sure to keep you warm. Damages will pick up with the turbulent life of Patty Hewes (Emmy winner Glenn Close), who after her unprecedented victory over billionaire Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson) is pondering her next move. William Hurt joins the cast as Daniel Purcell, a man from Patty's mysterious past who will launch her into a new legal challenge. Oh, and Patty's protégé Ellen (Rose Byrne) is acting as an informant for the FBI to bring Patty down. Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden and Timothy Olyphant also join the cast this season. Nip/Tuck resumes with Sean (Dylan Walsh) and Christian (Julian McMahon) in L.A., and their practice faces an unexpected medical crisis. Love is also in the air, as Christian decides to settle down while Sean's vulnerability leads him into a new relationship. Source: TvGuide
Check out some teasers for Nip/Tuck 's return. It seems like the show hasn't been on TV in forever! They were released about a month ago, but somehow I just came across them now: Teaser 1 Extended Teaser Nip/Tuck returns in January 2009.
Production on the final season of Nip/Tuck begins this week, and not surprisingly, the stars want more money. Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh currently make around $125,000 an episode; they are looking to double their salaries (which will still not make them nearly as pricey as one Dr. House ). Castmembers Joely Richardson, Kelly Carlson and Roma Maffia are also seeking raises. Similar disputes occurred last season, which were ultimately resolved by giving the stars cash bonuses. Katee Sackhoff's upcoming four-episode stint on Nip/Tuck is undergoing what you might call an extreme makeover. Sources confirm to me exclusively Rose McGowan has replaced Sackhoff in the role of Theodora "Teddy" Lowe, a doctor and potential love interest for Sean (Dylan Walsh). read full story here
Setting end dates for television series in advance is starting to become a trend (see Lost , Battlestar Galactica and recently, Mad Men ) and honestly, I'm not complaining. It allows the show to carefully plan a clear path for its storyline, which should minimize getting off track and prevent a forced abrupt conclusion (in the event of a tragic, unexpected cancellation). Well, you can now add another series to this list: Nip/Tuck . FOX/FX has shared their plans for the remainder of this series and they are as follows: The 5th season - abbreviated by the strike - will conclude in 2009 with 8 more episodes. Then - in 2011 - a final 6th season consisting of 19 episodes will air (2011?! I just hope Julian McMahon isn't bald by then...). This means that the show will conclude having filmed exactly 100 episodes. Source: TV Guide
