Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, seems to really enjoy producing medical dramas. Her newest show, Off the Map , will also be premiering on ABC and will be premiering on Wednesday, January 12 at 10:00 p.m . A few people will remember that Wednesday night at 10:00 p.m. isn't a great slot, and certainly not for a new show. I believe that Eastwick and Ugly Betty both didn't do well there . Of course, I'm not suggesting the time slot was the only reason for their ratings. I guess it's just difficult to premiere a mid-season show at 10:00 p.m. On the other hand, this is a Shonda Rhimes show, and she certainly has a following of fans on this network. Off the Map isn't a spin-off of Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice , but there are certainly people who like Rhimes' work and may tune in to see it here. To Read More Click Here.

ABC is displaying high confidence in its upcoming midseason drama Off the Map. The network has ordered six more episodes of the medical show from creator Jenna Bans and executive producers Betsy Beers and Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice), bringing the total to 13 episodes, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. The series follows Tommy (Zach Gilford), Lily (Caroline Dhavernas) and Mina (Mamie Gummer) at a medical clinic in South America. The cast also includes Jason George, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre and Valerie Cruz. Off the Map is slated to debut in early 2011. Source Here
Off the Map, ABC's new mid-season medical drama from Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes (think Grey's in the jungle), has enlisted an alum from NBC's 1980s medical drama St. Elsewehere. Recycling crusader Ed Begley Jr., who starred as Elsewhere's Dr. Victor Ehrlich from 1982-88, will appear in the fifth episode as a dentist named Hank. When a dentist's chair arrives unexpectedly in the economically-deprived locale, what will the doctor's do? Figuring this is a Rhimes show, they'll probably have steamy sex in it. I'm just saying... Friday Night Lights star Zach Gilford has joined the cast of ABC's mid-season medical drama Off the Map, an ABC rep tells TVGuide.com. Gilford will play Tommy, a physician who joins fellow doctors Lily (Caroline Dhavernas) and Mina (Mamie Gummer) at a medical clinic in South America. The 28-year-old star joins the cast after the departure of Enrique Murciano, who was let go because of creative reasons, according to ABC reps. Gilford will not be playing the same character the Without a Trace star portrayed. Off the Map, created by Jenna Bans and produced by Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice's Shonda Rhimes, recently signed Rachelle Lefevre as a series regular. The cast also includes Jason George, Martin Henderson and Valerie Cruz. Source Here
Enrique Murciano will be missing from ABCâs Off the Map when it premieres this fall. The Without a Trace alum has been dropped from the cast of the Shonda Rhimes-produced doctors-in-paradise drama, sources confirm to me exclusively. Iâm told Murciano was let go for creative reasons and the role will not be recast. The news comes a week after Twilightâs Rachelle Lefevre signed on to Map as a series regular. Source Here
Rachelle Lefevre was taken off the Twilight saga map earlier this year, when the redhead was controversially replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria in Eclipse. Now she's back on the map, so to speak, as a cast member on ABCâs Shonda Rhimes-backed physicians-in-paradise soap Off the Map. Yup, another Shonda medical drama. The Boston Legal and Swingtown starâs character, Eva, is a free-spirited missionary doctor, well versed in both international medicine and global health, EW reports. She worked at the clinic before, but left due to her troubled romantic history with its founder, Ben (Martin Henderson). What do you think? Will you watch the show? Source Here
