Relationship History
- Pam is the object of Jim's affection although she was engaged to Roy Anderson, a warehouse worker at the office. She suppresses any feelings she may have for her best friend, although in "Basketball", the camera catches her looking at a sweaty Jim and licking her lips. After a fight with Roy at the Dundie Awards, Pam gets so drunk that she momentarily lets her guard down, and kisses Jim on the lips. In the parking lot afterward, she nearly tells him something, but chickens out when she notices the camera watching them.
- Pam ultimately calls off the wedding, but not until after Jim has transferred to the company's branch in Stamford, Connecticut. Jim and Pam appear to have severed all ties after this, but he accidentally calls her at her desk one night when he was trying to reach Kevin Malone's voice mail. The conversation is a lengthy one (indicated by the transition from daylight to darkness outside their windows).
- When Jim moves back into the Scranton office as a result of The Merger, he reveals to Pam that he is dating, and eventually she learns he is dating Karen Filippelli.
- In "Beach Games", Michael suggests his employees test their bravery by walking over hot coals. Pam does it and the experience finally gets her to work up the courage to express her feelings to Jim in front of everyone. She tells Jim that she broke off her wedding because of him, then she awkwardly says she's ok with the fact that he's dating someone else now, but says she deeply misses their friendship.
- In "The Job", Pam has become much more assertive and still doesn't regret her previous speech, even with others making fun of it. She tells Karen she meant what she said and acts more rivalrous against her. With Michael, Jim, and Karen all interviewing for the position at corporate, she hopes Karen will get it. After enjoying messing with Dwight (Dwight promoted Pam as "Secret Assistant to the Regional Manager") during his reign as manager, she states that she is happy that Jim is with Karen and getting that position and hopes that she may find love too someday. However, as she is saying this, Jim interrupts her and asks her out for dinner, she happily accepts and forgets what she was previously saying.
