Hallie Parker (Lindsay Lohan) is an 11-year-old girl growing up in the Napa Valley with her father, Nicholas "Nick" Parker (Dennis Quaid), a successful vineyard owner and a viticulturist. Her identical twin sister, Annie James (also Lohan), is a Londoner living with her wedding-gown-designer mother, Elizabeth "Lizzie" James (Natasha Richardson). Nick and Lizzie divorced and never saw each other again shortly after having the twins, and they each agreed to take one of them. Therefore, neither twin knows that the other exists.
