Fox's charming family comedy Raising Hope has been one of the few bright spots in what's otherwise been a pretty pathetic season for new network shows. Well, good news: Fox has decided to keep Hope alive. Vulture has learned that the network will give an early second-season order to the show this morning, just in time for its portion of the TV Critics Association out in Pasadena. Capitalizing on a strong Glee lead-in, Hope is the No. 1 new show of the season among viewers under 35 and one of the few live-action-comedy success stories Fox has had in recent years. Creator Greg Garcia says, "I'm happy that the show is getting another year,” before adding, “but the fact that I've been trying to think of a funny quote for the last two hours and this is the best I could come up with makes me a little nervous about season two." http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/01/fox_renews_raising_hope.html
Glee's Christmas episode led Fox to a decisive victory Tuesday night, while even reruns of the reliable NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS pulled in big audiences. At 8, the fall finale of Glee posted a 4.4 rating in the adults 18-49 demo and 11 million total viewers. NCIS scored a 2.0 rating with 11.8 million, and ABC's A Charlie Brown Christmas posted a 2.6 — down 30 percent from last year's airing -- with 8 million. (The animated holiday special was the most popular show on Tuesday night with kids aged 2-11.) Elsewhere, NBC's Minute To Win It won a 1.6 rating and 6.9 million, and the CW's One Tree Hill averaged a 1.0 rating and 2.2 million. NCIS: LA pulled in 10.4 million people (1.9 demo rating) at 9. The ABC freshman series No Ordinary Family averaged 6.3 million and a 1.9 demo rating. Fox's Raising Hope was up 7 percent and tied NBC's The Biggest Loser in the demo — 2.9 — but canceled Running Wilde fell off precipitously to 1.7. The CW's Life Unexpected put up a 0.9 with 1.8 million watching. The Biggest Loser performed consistently, with an audience of 8 million-plus that grew along with the overall demo to a season-high 3.1, and was even the biggest winner during the last hour it was on — against Detroit 1-8-7 and The Good Wife. Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 "Glee's" trip to Sectionals helped the show rebound some from last week's lower-than-usual ratings, while both "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" brought decent numbers to CBS. The news was less good for ABC's "No Ordinary Family," which moved to a different timeslot and lost some viewers along the way. "Rudolph," which has been airing for more than 40 years, led its hour in viewers (and was second in adults 18-49) in helping lead CBS to the top overall spot on the night. The Eye averaged just over 12 million viewers and a 7.0 rating/11 share in households for the night. NBC (9.3 million, 5.6/9) also got a bump from holiday programming and finished second. FOX came in third with 8.4 million viewers and a 4.9/8, while ABC (6.9 million, 4.1/7) was fourth. The CW (1.7 million, 1.1/2) was way off the pace. CBS also led among adults 18-49 with a 3.4 rating. FOX was right behind with a 3.3. NBC took third with a 2.6 in the demographic, followed by ABC at 1.9. The CW drew a 0.8. To Read More Click Here.
The Chance home is brimming with excitement: Burt's rock idol Smokey Floyd is headlining Grocery-Palooza, a rockfest of sorts in the produce aisle of Jimmy's workplace. Even better, he's in their kitchen ! The badly aged rocker (Jason Lee) sits at the table, drinking milk straight from the bottle. "It's you!" squeals Virginia on 'Raising Hope' (Tue., 9PM ET on FOX). Floyd -- still holding fast to a big '80s 'do despite thinning gray hair and a receding hairline -- tells her, "Take some breaths, sweetheart. Shock will fade. But luckily, memory will last forever." Burt, Jimmy and Virginia watch in awed silence as he eats breakfast. "He's eating the same cereal I pick," whispers an elated Burt. Source & Video
On the set of Raising Hope recently, Jason Lee is feeling a little out of sorts. No, it's not the gray, long-haired wig (complete with a Snooki-esque pouf). It's not the faded yellow shirt with cut-out sides and maroon, leopard print skintight pants he's wearing. And it's not the facial latex, which took at least two hours to age him 15 plus years. It's something much more familiar. "There are probably 30 crew members on this that worked on My Name is Earl and being with Greg [Garcia] at the monitors, it literally feels like I'm on the set of Earl," Lee tells TVGuide.com. "It's really bizarre and it makes me miss Earl that much more." Although Lee's current get-up is far from the flannel shirts and handlebar mustache so closely associated with karma-conscious Earl Hickey, the appearance is very much a homecoming. More than a year after NBC pulled Earl off the air four seasons in, Lee is reuniting with Earl creator Garcia on his first-year sitcom Raising Hope. To Read More Click Here.
