FOX fall TV 2013 premiere dates: 'New Girl' Season 3, 'Bones' Season 9 and more start a little early

FOX has announced premiere dates for its fall schedule, and as usual the network will launch its series both earlier and later than the other networks.Four nights of programming and shows including "Bones," "Glee," "New Girl" and "The X Factor" will premiere before the official start of the 2013-14 season on Sept. 23. That will help those shows get a decent run of episodes in before postseason baseball puts them on the shelf for a while in October. The network is also saving a few of its premieres for after the World Series. Futuristic cop show "Almost Human" won't debut until Nov. 4, and comedies "Raising Hope" and "Enlisted" are set for Nov. 8. "Bones" is also shifting from Monday to Friday in November. Here's the full rundown of FOX's fall premieres. All times are Eastern/Pacific, and new shows are in bold. For a complete list of debut dates, see Zap2it's fall premieres calendar.Wednesday, Sept. 118... Read More...

It's still a long-shot. 13. "Raising Hope" For three seasons, this comedy about five generations of a love, blue-collar family is as sweet as it is insanely funny. The acting is uniformly good -- even baby Hope is entertaining -- and the humor of everyday life never gets old. Cloris Leachman and Martha Plimpton have both been...

TV ratings: 'American Idol' hits an all-time low Thursday

Fast National ratings for Thursday, March 28, 2013Thursday's "American Idol" sunk to the show's lowest adults 18-49 rating ever, notching a very ordinary 2.7 in the demographic. It finished behind CBS' NCAA tournament coverage at 10 o'clock (pending updates) and "Grey's Anatomy" in the demo. Also Thursday, "The Vampire Diaries" and "Scandal" were down a little bit from last week, and the season finale of "Raising Hope" on FOX didn't keep much of its "Idol" lead-in. NBC's "1600 Penn" limped to the end of its season.FOX averaged 7.5 million viewers and a 4.7 rating/8 share in households to lead the night. ABC (7.05 million, 4.7/8) edged CBS (6.9 million, 4.5/7) for second place, although the Eye's numbers may rise some with adjustments for its live sports coverage. 'Raising Hope' Season 3 finale: Burt Chance bar mitzvah - kooky? Very

There is a lot to like in the Season 3 finale of "Raising Hope," starting with the fact that it's not the series finale. FOX has picked up the series for next season, so we'll get to see at least one more year of the weird, warm -- and musical! -- Chance family.Thursday's (March 28) hour-long finale was two holiday-pegged episodes tied together. The first, which touched on both Easter and Passover, is timely, but the second was clearly meant to air closer to Mother's Day in May. No matter, though -- if "Community" can have Halloween on Valentine's Day, "Raising Hope" can be a little early on Mother's Day, particularly with an episode as strong and sweet as "Mother's Day" was.FOX's teasers understandably focused on Cloris Leachman's dual role as Maw Maw and her 104-year-old mother, who thinks she's been dead for 20 years and is waiting for angels to come and take her....

'Raising Hope' season finale: Cloris Leachman doubles down as Maw Maw's maw

The season finale of "Raising Hope" will feature twice as much Cloris Leachman as usual. The multiple Emmy winner gets to play opposite herself in the hour-long finale, which airs Thursday (March 28), following "American Idol." When Burt (Garret Dillahunt) and Barney (Gregg Binkley) travel to Maw Maw's (Leachman) childhood home, they discover her mother might still be alive. The reunion between mother and daughter, as FOX has teased in promos and you can see in the below video -- exclusive to Zap2it -- is not the happiest one you'll ever witness.Leachman says it was her idea that Maw Maw should have a living mother, and then creator Greg Garcia's brainstorm to have her play both roles. Dillahunt calls it a "Milchian bit of casting," referring to the fact that he played two different parts (at different times in the show's run) on David Milch's HBO series "Deadwood."Oh, and in case you're wondering about Lucas...
