HBO Renews ‘Real Time’ With Bill Maher For Two More Seasons

The President of HBO programming, Michael Lombardo, has announced the news that the network plans to  renew the racy series  Real Time  with Bill Maher  for an additional two seasons, bringing the show into its 11th and 12th year. The good news comes after the highly controversial talk show host, who owns HBO’s Friday night timeslot of 10 PM est, has managed to pull in an impressive 4.1 million viewers per episode this season. 'Real Time with Bill Maher' Returns with Louis C.K., Olbermann, and Perfect Timing

When Bill Maher returns with "Real Time" tonight with guests including Keith Olbermann and Louis C.K., they'll have no shortage of political fodder. Look for a lively roundtable, given President Obama's low approval ratings, Dick Cheney's book tour, a Republican winning Anthony Weiner's seat, and a new Sarah Palin biography. Conversation should flow freely among the guests, who also include political strategist Rich Galen and political analyst Jennifer Donahue. Who knows? They may even argue a bit. The fall portion of the show's ninth season premieres on HBO at 10 p.m.

Ready for a return trip to Atlantic City? HBO has announced premiere dates for 'Boardwalk Empire,' 'Hung' and 'How to Make It in America.' The cable network has also renewed renewed 'Real Time with Bill Maher,' the popular political humor talk show, for a tenth season. 'Boardwalk Empire,' which recently picked up 18 Emmy nominations, will begin its 12-episode Season 2 on Sun., Sept. 25.

Back on October 29, 2010, Zach Galifianakis set the Internet on fire after his appearance on 'Real Time' (Fri., 10PM ET on HBO). Bill Maher threw up a still shot of Galifianakis smoking a joint and announced that the clip of that appearance "got over 2 million hits on YouTube." In an effort to up the ante and generate even more buzz, Maher pulled out a tray with all the paraphernalia to shoot Galafianakis up with heroin. "Never done this before in my life," Galifianakis admitted. "Yeah, everything's ending, so let's just do it."
