The series is produced by Katalyst Films and Television, the production company of Ashton Kutcher, known for his own prank show, Punk'd, in association with New Line Television, part of the studio that produced the movie. No one among the show's main cast and crew were involved in the original film.[1]

It was announced on May 7, 2007, that the series would be pulled after three episodes. It may return in the summer.[2] NBC subsequently announced on it website that a fourth episode would air on May 28, 2007.
