On advice from Dr. Homer, Tommy's dentist (Didi prefers calling him a ""tooth fairy""), Stu and Didi wanted Tommy to start drinking from the cup, so Tommy won't have any bad teeth or cross-bites later. Tommy, however, wants to stick with the bottle instead.
