Steve Martin Crashes Alec Baldwin's Record-Setting 'SNL' Hosting Stint (VIDEO)

When it was realized that Alec Baldwin hosting this season premiere of 'Saturday Night Live' (Sat., 11:30PM ET on NBC) would give him the all-time hosting record over Steve Martin , we all assumed that Martin would make an appearance. The question was how and when. Well, he showed up right away, during Baldwin's monologue touting his 16th time hosting. Martin was surprisingly gracious, and only wanted to make sure Baldwin wasn't using any performance enhancing drugs. So they staged a fake drug test, with Martin analyzing Baldwin's urine by swishing it in his mouth -- he only detected Cialis. It was a fun bit, but much tamer than perhaps we would have expected. No jealousy or bitterness from Martin? We did, however, love when he asked surprise guest Seth Rogen if his being there counted as hosting. It doesn't.

Cast member Bill Hader gets sidekick honors with Baldwin in the promo above, about which we have a few thoughts:Thought 1: Baldwin looks fit. We wonder if the extended off-season for "30 Rock" (thanks to Tina Fey's new daughter Penelope) hasn't been rejuvenating for him.Thought 2: They still make Trapper Keepers? Thought 2a: That Velcro sound takes us back to fourth grade without fail.Thought 3: What, Bill Hader, is up with your hair? Are you also working on a movie (perhaps one in which you play Eddie Vedder), or is that all on your own?"SNL" premieres at 11:30 p.m. ET Saturday....
