Characters

BILLIE PIPER:

Billie Piper as Belle

Belle (real name Hannah Baxter) is a 27-year-old graduate living in London, who has worked for the last few years as a high class escort. She's an independent, witty young woman who loves her job and unconventional lifestyle. Belle is able to do her job by compartmentalizing her life into Hannah and Belle, but over time she finds these compartments increasingly hard to maintain. To her parents she's Hannah, the legal secretary. Even her closest pal has no idea about her working life. To her clients Belle is whatever they want her to be. She can be the quiet girl-next-door. Or she can be the high-heeled dominatrix who whips them into submission. The whos is based on "The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl by Belle de Jour," series created by Lucy Prebble from an idea by Paul Duane.

CHERIE LUNGHI:

Billie and Cherie
Stephanie, 49, is the manager of the agency Belle works for. Stephanie is an ex-working girl who now lives alone and whose only love is for work. She is rich, glamorous, with a wicked, sharp wit. Belle hopes she never becomes as duplicitous and materialistic as Stephanie seems to be, but they do have similarities.

IDDO GOLDBERG:

Ben is Belle's best friend, and ex-boyfriend of many years ago. They met at university and have had a close friendship ever since. They share almost everything including their sense of humor. The only secret between them is Belle's job. Ben is in a long term relationship with another woman.

HANNAH'S PARENTS:

Hannah's parents, Gail and Niall, have no idea what their younger daughter actually does for a living, they believe Belle's lie - that she is a night-time legal secretary.

--TOYAH WILLCOX:

Billie &Toyah

Belle's mother, Gail, feels the distance between herself and her daughter and really wants Belle to get involved with the family's life.

--STUART ORGAN:

Belle's father, Niall, is an old-fashioned dad who loves his daughter very much, but we get the sense he knows his daughter is keeping something from the family.

DANIEL:

Before Belle meets Daniel at a posh London hotel she assumes she's going to see a middle aged man in need of an ego boost. Then Daniel turns up. He's great looking, athletic and caring.

About Season 2: Coming September 2008

Billie Piper began filming second series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl on May 14, 2008

She's back as Belle in a second series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl on ITV2 in the UK. The series that achieved record audiences of more than two million in 2007 returns to the channel for a further eight episodes in September 2008.

Based on the best-selling, real life diaries of an upmarket escort, Secret Diary of a Call Girl allows us a deeper look into the world of the glamorous and intelligent Belle de Jour (Billie Piper) aka Hannah to her family.

Belle is now a high-class independent escort. Unintentionally befriended by the bubbly but clingy Bambi (Ashley Madekwe - Trial & Retribution, Drop Dead Gorgeous), Belle finds herself an unwilling mentor to this wannabe call girl. And while her best friend Ben (Iddo Goldberg), the only person who knows about her secret life, seems to be settling down into domestic bliss, Belle is throwing herself into her work.

But then Hannah meets Alex (Callum Blue - The Tudors, Dirt), the handsome doctor who she mistakes for a client in a hotel bar. Belle faces the most difficult question of all - can you keep having sex for money if you're falling in love? Will the girl who thinks she has it all ever really manage to have a relationship?

Cherie Lunghi (Casualty 1906, The Brief, Cutting It) returns as Belle's former agent Stephanie. Toyah Wilcox and Stuart Organ return as Hannah's parents.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl is a Tiger Aspect /Silverapples Media/MF Management production for ITV. The producer is Jacquie Glanville and the series producers are Rebecca de Souza and Roanna Benn. The directors are Fraser Macdonald (Holby City, Shameless) and Peter Lydon (Fairytales - Cinderella, Vincent). Writers include Lucy Prebble, Julie Gearey and Chloe Moss. The executive producers are Greg Brenman for Tiger Aspect, Avril MacRory for Silverapples Media and Michael Foster of MF Management.
