Everett Van der Sloot (played by Mr. Smith) was a rich and powerful professional golfer who became mentally ill after coming home and finding his wife making love to a snowman. Everett is further abused by Sherman Rance, (played by Mr. Neisz) a crazed sociopath, who became obsessed with killing snowmen as a small child after seeing his father, dead, at the foot of a snowman. He claims to have killed that snowman by "taking it apart by flake by frozen flake." Since that incident he has hunted snowmen in his insane belief that he can defeat evil by killing snowmen. Rance met Everett when Everett's therapists determined he could be a good friend for him using the internet. Now they hunt snowmen together in rural Oregon. The premise of the show is that a reporter referred to by Sherman as "John" has come to film their exploits and interview them about them. John has never been seen on camera. Other characters rarely appear. The only other people to appear on the series so far are the following: a man who expresses dismay after Sherman and Everett steal his jack-o-lanterns, thinking they are in cahoots with the snowmen; a driver whose car has broken down and ends up getting locked in his own trunk by Sherman; a woman who comes to talk with the Snowmen Hunters about their roles in John's videos -- and fends off romantic advances from Sherman; and, in a flashback, Sherman's father, who died due to auto-erotic asphyxiation after ingesting numerous drugs.
