Back in December, I was lucky enough to get to play on the set of 'Southland.' Little did I know at the time that they were shooting the episode after last week's shocker, but even now, I'd definitely call this week's 'The Winds' action-packed. We've got two exclusive photos from tonight's episode (Tuesday, Feb. 1, 10PM ET on TNT), both featuring a very special guest star: a huge snake. When Officers Cooper and Sherman get called to a home, they arrive to find a small dog being strangled by someone's python. To make matters even worse, the two neighbors who own the pets are fighting, throwing F-bombs and totally freaking out. http://www.tvsquad.com/2011/02/01/exclusive-photos-southland-season-3-episode-5-the-winds/
In Southland 's deft mix of intriguing characters, Michael Cudlitz's complex cop, John Cooper, is a standout. The veteran character actor shares some secrets from the TNT police drama as well as his own life. ... http://www.tvguide.com/News/Southlands-Michael-Cudlitz-1028760.aspx?rss=breakingnews
Our top moments of the week: 11. Best Excuse for Facial Hair: White Collar mixes style and substance for its flashback episode. Fans finally learn how Neal met his love, Kate, and future partner-in-crime(-solving) Peter. But much more importantly, we get to see Tim DeKay rock a mustache! Your move, Bradley Whitford. 10. Cheapest False Alarm: Remember all those promos for that catastrophic tsunami on Hawaii Five-0 ? "This is one wave you don't want to ride," CBS warned us. Yeah, it never happened. It turns out the tsunami warning signal was a fake, instigated by a hacker who wanted to create an evacuation as a diversion. We haven't felt this cheated since Rob Lowe "died" for a hot second on Brothers & Sisters (the first time). 9. Worst Display of Emotion: The dysfunction between Sammi and Ronnie reaches a new high... http://www.tvguide.com/News/Moments-Castle-Kiss-1028471.aspx?rss=breakingnews
Did you cry? Because there were definitely tears here at WWK HQ during last night's devastating Southland episode. We lost one of our favorites—an actor we've loved for years on a series of TV shows—and his character's death was terribly painful and drawn-out. We just talked to the actor in question about why he's leaving the show, and got some exclusive spoilers about how the big death changes the life of the surviving partner. Goodbye, Santos Nate. Once again, Kevin Alejandro is leaving a TV show in tragic fashion. He was killed off Ugly Betty back in the day, devastating Hilda and Justin, and last night was his final hour on Southland. So why the departure this time? "I'm a regular on True Blood so you'll see me there," says Alejandro. "I wish I could have done both shows. If it had worked out that way, I would have been the happiest man in the world, but it works out the way it's supposed to work out. Southland's been an amazing experience, and [this storyline] just fit into the way things were going. It was good for the show, it was good for me, and it's going to be positive on both sides.." Characters come and go on television shows and on a serious and very realistic crime police drama like TNT's "Southland" it was only a matter of time before one of our beloved regular characters would succumb to dangerous circumstances and die in the line of duty. In the "Southland" episode that aired tonight (entitled "Code 4," written by Will Rokos and directed by Felix Alcala) the close relationship between Kevin Alejandro's Detective Nate Moretta and Shawn Hatosy's Detective Sammy Bryant was punctuated throughout, which only made the final moments of the episode an even more impactful punch in the gut. To catch you up, Sammy, whose estranged wife is possibly pregnant by another man, is sleeping on Nate's couch, much to the chagrin of Nate's spouse. The personal drama bleeds into the work front as the team investigates a gang-related homicide and Nate constantly must reign in the hot-headed Sammy. It's all the more shocking and heartbreaking at the end of the episode when, during a seemingly low-key gang altercation, the calm and collected Nate (who has just held up four fingers - or Code 4 - to apolicehelicopter overhead to signal that the situation is under control) takes a blow to the back of the head by a baseball bat in Los Angeles gang territory and is killed much to the horror of Sammy. 'Southland' continues to up the ante (Tuesdays, 10PM ET on TNT), proving to be more than just a cop drama, and this week's episode ('Code Four') is even more jaw-droppingly action-packed than usual. If somehow you're still not sold on the show, this is one hour that'll make you a true fan. With great performances from the entire cast, it's a particularly standout episode for Shawn Hatosy -- poor Sammy just can't seem to catch a break. There's more drama with Tammy and her new baby daddy (or is he?), a big push for Sammy to stop sleeping on his partner Nate's (Kevin Alejandro) couch and a life-changing ending that had me in tears. A few more teases (all spoiler-free, I swear) after the jump .. http://www.tvsquad.com/2011/01/25/southland-season-3-episode-4-spoiler-free-teases/
