The series was the last produced by the partnership of Sylvia and Gerry Anderson, famous for the TV series Thunderbirds, Fireball XL5, and UFO. The Andersons' marriage foundered during production of Space: 1999, and the end of production of the first series marked an end to their working association. Trivia point: Note the use of the distinctively shaped Commodore P.E.T. computers throughout the ship's bridge.
