Stargate Universe: A Goodbye With Thoughts on the Last Few Episodes

Stargate Universe  airs its final episode tonight on SyFy and I felt that it was a good time to stop and sum up the last few episodes before giving the show the goodbye that it deserves. If you've been living under a rock since December, SyFy  canceled  the latest  Stargate  spinoff due to low ratings after it was moved from its Friday time slot to Tuesdays where ratings were not favorable. When the show returned this spring, the cable network then moved it to Monday nights where ratings fluctuated, but it was too late since the show had already been given its walking papers. STARGATE UNIVERSE “Gauntlet” Season 2 Episode 20 (Series Finale) - Preview

It is the series finale of  Stargate Universe  and the team is faced with a final showdown with the drones with a completely uncertain outcome. I wish I could say that I will miss the show but they never managed to overcome the lack of a crucial story element: a true nemesis with a deep mythology. Episode Synopsis:  Blocked by Command Ships at every star and unable to gate for supplies  without alerting the drones, Destiny must take a stand  or be left adrift. 'Stargate Universe': David Blue & Brad Wright on the Finale & Future of 'Stargate'

It's a sad day for 'Stargate' fandom. After only two seasons, the third series from the sci-fi franchise, 'Stargate Universe,' is coming to an end. The cancellation of 'SGU' leaves the TV landscape without a 'Stargate' show for the first time in 14 years. The series finale, titled 'Gauntlet,' airs tonight (Mon., May 9, 9PM ET on Syfy).  'SGU' experienced a creative upswing in its second season, but the show fell victim to low ratings following Syfy's decision to move it from Fridays (AKA, nerd TV night) to Tuesdays last October.
