TV ratings: 'Revenge' beats 'The Good Wife' in adults 18-49 Sunday; '666 Park Avenue' starts modestly

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012"Revenge" opened its second season with ratings very similar to its series premiere last year, beating "The Good Wife" head-to-head among adults 18-49 -- though the CBS show had a few more total viewers -- and helping ABC's new Sunday lineup score pretty solid numbers. "Once Upon a Time" also opened pretty well, although "666 Park Avenue" had a softer start at 10 o'clock.Elsewhere, NBC got more big numbers from "Sunday Night Football" to win the night, and "The Simpsons" had a pretty good premiere for FOX thanks to an NFL lead-in.NBC delivered 16.6 million viewers and a 10.2 rating/16 share in households for the evening, leading second-place FOX (11 million, 6.4/10) by a pretty wide margin. 'Amazing Race' premiere: First leg has 'a very dramatic finish,' says Phil Keoghan

"The Amazing Race" returns this weekend with teams that include Chippendales dancers, a double amputee and a Megadeth rocker, plus a two million dollar prize for the winners of the first leg shoudl they win the whole race. Host Phil Keoghan tells Zap2it that raises the stakes right at the start."We definitely set a high bar and you can see right from the start the teams are amped up," says Keoghan. "There's a very dramatic finish ... it's one of those endings where the teams are really fighting, they're very very close. There's a couple of decisions that are made there that really had a detrimental effect on a couple of teams. 'The Amazing Race' wins gazillionth Emmy

"The Amazing Race" just picked up its ninth Emmy for best reality competition tonight (Sept. 23). Since the category was created in 2003, "TAR" has lost only once, to "Top Chef" in 2010. Only Phil Keoghan, nominated four times in the Emmy competition for reality host, has yet to win the individual trophy for greeting racers on the finishers mat with his signature raised brow. The CBS competition, created by Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster, launched in 2001. It features two-person teams racing around the world for a million dollars. That prize will be doubled, to 2 million dollars, for the 21st season, which premieres this fall.
