Kathy Griffin will guest-star in an upcoming episode of The Defenders, TVLine.com reports. Griffin will play a nightclub comic who gets sued by audience members she insulted. The 50-year-old comedian, who recently wrapped her Emmy-winning reality series My Life on The D-List, will appear in an episode slated for early March. Two of CBS' freshman series, Blue Bloods and The Defenders, are trading prime-time real estate next month. CBS announced Tuesday that Blue Bloods will air Wednesdays at 10/9c for one month beginning Jan. 19. To make room, The Defenders will then permanently move to Fridays at 8/7c starting Feb. 4, two weeks after the series finale of Medium. The swap makes sense for CBS. The network's five new shows are the top-rated new series of the TV season, and Blue Bloods has shown surprising strength on Fridays, where it is averaging 12.3 million viewers. As the lead-out to CBS' veteran hits Survivor and Criminal Minds, The Defenders' average of 10 million viewers is less impressive. Whether or not The Defenders will be a strong enough lead-in for CSI: NY at 9/8c remains to be seen. To Read More Click Here.
With no disrespect to Jerry O'Connell and Jim Belushi, CBS's The Defenders has just taken a significantly sexier turn with the addition of Latin star Kuno Becker in a new recurring role. Kuno, 32, will appear on the Vegas-set series as a Cuban bad boy named Alex Velasco, who is too smart for his own good. Having previously worked as an undercover DEA agent, Alex is now stuck working as a repo man. His street sense, edge and ability to break into places make him a great asset to the firm. This is the first recurring American TV role for Kuno, who has mainly worked in his native Mexico. He starts shooting this week and his episodes will start appearing in early 2011. James Brolin — who knows a thing or two about hotels — checks into The Defenders (Wednesday, 10/9c, CBS) to play Teddy, playboy father of Pete (Jerry O'Connell). And what an entrance he makes. "He shows up in a red Corvette that he 'borrowed' from a girlfriend," says exec producer Greg Walker, a lifelong fan. "I loved him on Hotel. Brolin is one of those guys who has aged gracefully." That's what the producers were looking for when casting Teddy. "We had an idea for a guy who possessed that handsome charm — like an older Clooney," Walker says. But all that charm isn't enough to win over Pete, who's grown tired of Teddy's antics. "He always had to bail out his dad," he says. "It's not coincidence that Pete ended up a lawyer." Source Here
