The Guatemalan Handshake
The Guatemalan Handshake is a 2006 comedy/drama film, written/directed by Todd Rohal. It tells the story of a mysterious power failure in a small mountain town that coincides with the disappearance of one of its most eccentric young residents. Mystery piles upon mystery as his family and friends search for him, fail, and ultimately try to forget about him, an undertaking that results in many unexpected, and in some cases bizarre, effects on the town's already peculiar community. It was Todd Rohal's feature film debut. The film premiered at the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival on Saturday, January 21 at The Sitting Room Theater in Park City, UT and won the Special Jury Prize.
