The seemingly "grounded" husband of Tara has undeniably been the rock of the family thus far. As season two begins to unfold Tara's alter "Buck" (possibly everyones favorite) has surfaced despite Tara's decent run at keeping her alters at bay. I believe that FINALLY after his unbelievable patience with Tara (which makes him what I imagine to be the perfect husband in any woman's eyes, correct me if I am wrong) we are going to see Max "crack". So if Max is indeed the rock in this family what will happen to it when it he does finally break? I only know as much as any of you know but I imagine it will make this season all the more interesting. Forcing each family member to find their own sense of independence and hopefully become semi well-adjusted individuals as the family unit begins to break apart. Knowing that Showtime has already given the go for a season three maybe the family will not come back to the same sense of unity we might hope for this season. But hey, I for one am okay with that. Tara is all about change so let's just look forward to what ever ride the writers have in store for us. Which at this point I'm sure they don't even know... I'm looking forward to what I believe to be a very different ride with Max this season.
The United States of Tara is new again tonight on Showtime , 10:30/9:30c. While the first episode had the second season off to a slow start (Tara's actually cured? Don't even joke!), last week's more than made up for it, putting Tara in some deliciously fawkward situations at the supermarket with Buck's new love interest (you know, that chick from Adam Sandler's "Big Daddy"). As for the other alters (T, Alice, & the hilariously messy Gimme)... they have yet to make their season 2 appearance. But who the heck is Shoshanna?! We first caught a glimpse of the new-for-season-2 alter in a teaser, which had given us a sneak peek of the current batch of episodes prior to the March 22nd premiere. However, quite honestly I had forgotten all about her until I stumbled upon Tara's official journal , which makes reference to Shoshanna and even includes a link to her "own site" (I guess Gimme isn't sophisticated enough to have its own blog -- makes sense). While this new character isn't supposed to appear until next week's episode, I'm still dying to know more about her, and why exactly she's been triggered into existence! Rumor has it that Shoshanna comes on the scene as Tara's therapist. Unlike her other alternate personalities, however, Tara is conscious of Shoshanna's actions when she takes over as the dominant personality and is the only alter she can actually communicate with... so far, that is! While it's tough to top Buck when it comes to entertainment factor, I find it pretty intriguing that Tara can actually communicate with this new alter, as opposed to transitioning with little to no warning and having no recollection of her other states post-switch. Do you think Shoshanna's existence may ultimately help cure Tara's symptoms, or is she just more evidence of a further dissociated (and perhaps worsening) state of mind? Don't forget to watch The United States of Tara tonight at 10:30!
does anyone know when season 2 will start?
I love this show so much and cant wait to see season 2 does anyone have any idea when the new season starts?
On the United States of Tara, I feel so bad for Marshall because his mom was making out with the guy he likes! It was kinda psychotic that he burnt down the shed though.....and how he was sitting there watching it burn.
I can't decide which alter I like the most, all of them are wonderful! Which one is your favorite? Alice reminds me a lot of Bree Van De Camp, from Desperate Housewifes, anyone sees it? Do you think Toni took something from that character to portray Alice?
To all Showtime fans, L Word fans and newly United States of Tara fans!! Is it just me or sometimes Toni Collet makes some Dana Fairbanks faces?? I don'T know if it's the look or the nose or whatever, but sometimes I see Dana in thoses mimics...maybe I'm just too nostalgic. So what do you think? Does anyone agree or disagree?
Like all true fans, I'll start by saying that I absolutely love this show. It's amazing. But the most amazing thing about it is this Max guy. I was going to say that as a man he seems too perfect to be true. Then I realized that he is amazing even outside of gender issues. I mean when I look around me, I am not sure that even those of people I know who are the most carrying and loving would be able to take all of that for as long as the character in the show. OK, maybe the most caring and loving would. And perhaps that is what true love looks like, but still, as the flaw-full person that I am, it would be reassuring to see Max loose patience at least once... OK, OK! I know that I should trust love more to be Max's way... So I guess this is me thanking the author for insisting that we can all be like Max if we try harder ;)
