Eliza Dushku Headlining 'Torchwood' Web Series?

Talk about a nerdgasm: 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Dollhouse' veteran Eliza Dushku is rumored to be starring in a web companion series to the new season of 'Torchwood.' According to BleedingCool, 'Torchwood' writer and 'Buffy' veteran Jane Espenson revealed the online spinoff and teased Dushku's involvement on Twitter. The first tweet: "We have faith in Torchwood: Web of Lies. #hint" Then, Espenson tweeted: "It's tru; there's an echo of my past work in #Torchwood: Web of Lies. (I know you already solved my little puzzle, but this is fun.)"

'Torchwood: Miracle Day' releases first footage, teases Eliza Dushku web series

It's not much. But we'll take it. "Torchwood: Miracle Day" has thus far only teased its upcoming Starz run with cryptic, artsy promos containing title art and a shot of a globe on the verge of detonation. Now they're finally rolling out some meatier spots. IO9 points to this 10-second clip which, while brief, does show returning cast members John Barrowman and Eve Myles joined by new additions Mekhi Phifer, Bill Pullman and Lauren Ambrose. Also? Explosions! It's just what we've been waiting for, but at the moment, we're a bit more preoccupied with some gossip coming from the "Torchwood" front. Writer Jane Espenson (of "Buffy" and "Battlestar Galactica" fame) joins creator Russell T. Davies in penning the new season, and she recently announced a companion web series... starring Eliza Dushku? It sure seems that way. Teasing "Torchwood: Web of Lies," Espenson writes that she has "faith" in the project and that "it's tru" that there's...

Latest 'Torchwood: Miracle Day' teaser: It's getting crowded in here

Anticipation is mounting for the upcoming Starz run of the UK hit "Torchwood" -- especially since the teasers leave pretty much everything to the imagination. After the foreboding combo of Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" and an about-to-explode globe, teaser #2 shows the earth nearing metaphoric detonation once again, with news broadcast voice-overs describing the premise of absolutely nobody on the planet dying. All the while, a population tally rapidly increases on screen. We dig the tone they're setting up for "Miracle Day," but with the July 8 premiere just around the corner, we're ready for some footage of Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) on American soil....

Torchwood: Miracle Day - "Bigger" In Every Sense of the Word

The Doctor, Amy and Rory aren't the only alien-fighting Brits heading to America this year. The highly anticipated fourth season of Torchwood , titled "Miracle Day," will be set mostly in the ole U.S. of A, with the cast and crew using one word to describe the awesomeness that is headed our way: "bigger." "It's going to be bigger and better," John Barrowman, aka Captain Jack himself, told Deadline Monday. "...the audience is going to need a forklift truck to pick their jaws up off the ground." Barrowman, who served as a companion to both the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) in Doctor Who , was excited about discussing a stunt which he declared couldn't have been shot in Wales because of the budget. A helicopter scene in the opening sequence proves his point. "If we were in Wales shooting, we might not have had that, or we would have to rewrite the sequence." According to producer Julie Gardner, Torchwood: Miracle Day has a budget that triples the previous seasons that were shot in the UK, giving the show's producers the opportunity to go wild with the type of stunts they can pull off. The helicopter scene is a prime example of this newfound freedom. But the explosions and transcontinental scope of the story aren't the only things of Torchwood that is expected to get an upgrade. Add 'sex' onto the list as well. "Jack will have his little dabblings and the audience will get what they want," Barrowman promised to the die-hard fans of his bisexual TV counterpart, who is a legendary conquistador when it comes to sexual relations. In other words, no American is safe from the charms of Captain Jack Harkness. So, 'bigger' is the operative word when it comes to Torchwood: Miracle Day this summer. And we would not have it any other way. The ten part series will also star the other two remaining original Torchwood stars Eve Myles and Kai Owens, along with newcomers Mekhi Phifer, Bill Pullman, Alexa Havins, Dichen Lachman, Lauren Ambrose, and Arlene Tur. Torchwood: Miracle Day premieres July 8th on Starz. It would be wise to bone up for subscription to the channel now.

'Torchwood: Miracle Day': Now with more sex and money

With a release date and a nifty promo and poster recently revealed, expectations for the upcoming Starz co-production of BBC's "Torchwood," "Miracle Day," are decidedly high. And if all that isn't enough for you, the project is reportedly getting more of two of our favorite things: sex and money. Deadline reports the budget for the 10-part season is triple what is has been for the first three seasons in the U.K., with a lot of that money going to special effects and large-scale stunts. Star John Barrowman points to the season's opening scene, involving a helicopter crash, as an example of the grander scale. "If we were in Wales shooting, we might not have had that, or we would have had to re-write the sequence," he says. "The stunt work is unbelievable. I used to do quite a lot of stunts, except if it was jumping off of buildings, but now I'm not allowed...
