NBC Orders More 'Trauma' and Other Shows to Fill 'Leno' Slot

NBC has taken a measure to anticipate the lost of 10/9c hour filler when "The Jay Leno Show" finishes its primetime run on February 11. The peacock is ordering more episodes from its series such as "Trauma" and "Community" and even extending the number of "The Office" and "30 Rock" which have gotten the full 22-episode order. "Trauma", the new medical drama, receives four more episodes although the show is not doing well in the rating. NBC initially wanted to cancel the show after the first 13 episodes but decided later to bring it up to 16. With the new order, the show gets a total of 20 episodes. Meanwhile, critically-acclaimed but equally not stellar in rating, "Community" gets additional three. NBC also orders three for "Law & Order" and two for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Parks and Recreation". This means "Law & Order" will have 22 episodes in total while "SVU" and "Parks" get a full-blown 25 episodes in one season. Conan O'Brien is taking a stance in quitting NBC when it is to be pushed to 12:05 A.M. The host is demanding a compensation for the staff of "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" when they lose their job. The show reportedly will end its run this Friday, January 22. Source Here

NBC Sets Friday Night Lights and other Post-Olympics Premieres - Featured

In the event that you haven't been following the Conan O'Brien and/vs. Jay Leno vs. NBC kerfuffle, the one thing that is certain in that still uncertain mess is that The Jay Leno Show will be ending its run come the Winter Olympics on NBC. This means that post-Olympics, the net will have the 10PM slot to fill every night! They've already starting planning for this (though these dates will undoubtedly change 20 times in the near future): In the 10PM slots: Law & Order will air on Mondays, Parenthood will air on Tuesdays (a change from its original Monday slot), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will air on Wednesdays, Jerry Seinfeld's The Marriage Ref will move to Thursdays at 10 and the always-available Dateline will fill in on Fridays. In the earlier schedule holes that have now opened up due to the 10PM shuffling: Trauma will return Mondays at 9PM in March after Heroes concludes its run. New game shows Who Do You Think You Are? and Minute to Win It will air Fridays and Sundays at 8, respectively. And, perhaps most excitingly, Friday Night Lights finally has an NBC premiere date - and one earlier than initially expected: Friday, April 30th at 8PM. A premiere date has yet to be set for comedy 100 Questions , which at this point pretty much means that the show is a giant stinker! What do you think about all of this NBC schedule craziness? Cancellation Buzz: Is Trauma Un-Canceled? - Featured

Though back in October NBC announced that they would not be picking up additional episodes of Trauma beyond its initial 13 episode order , buzz is starting to build that the show is...uncanceled. But how is this even possible?? According to Nikke Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily, "I've learned that NBC has told the show this week the network not only will produce all 13 episodes from its current order but also order more. What helped to earn a pickup? A recent ratings rise." Of course, as things currently stand, no additional episodes have actually been ordered. This is still in rumor phase. Though - should this turn out to be true - I guess it only further serves to prove that you shouldn't give up on your show just because it has been "canceled" - as this word no longer seems to have any sort of absolute meaning. If Trauma's un-cancellation is true, would you be happy? Update: E!Online has also picked up this story , though they are citing the same single source. Update 2: NBC has ordered 3 additional episodes , bringing the total up from 13 to 16. Source
