Premiere: March 4,2004

Type: TV Show

A CGI animated series about a group of starship traveling misfits and their space adventures. It's from the Sci-Fi Channel, so there's plenty of sex, sleaze, and saucy dialogue to go around. - DVD Clinic

More Information

Tripping the Rift is one of them newfangled CG animated shows, where the people and funny animals all look 3-D like. The show centers on a ragtag crew of misfits on the starship Jupiter 42, a crew whose only point to navigating the cosmos seems to be stealing and having a good time. (To be honest, if I had a starship I'm sure I'd do the same thing.) Choad, the captain, is the smarmiest of the bunch, but he's voiced by Stephen "You borrowed my stapler" Root so I try to not be too harsh on the little guy. He is supported by the rest of his crew: Six of Nine (Gina Gershon), Choad's top heavy sexbot (get it? Six of Nine? Oh, so very subtle?); Gus, the fey golden robot who swears he's not gay; T'nunk, a triple-breasted, four-legged bundle of ugly who is the butt of every joke; and Whip, Choad's nephew.

Finding their way into zany adventures, the crew of the Jupiter 42 are constantly dogged by the evil Dark Clown empire and the Star Trekish Confederation, while sci-fi and pop culture references dance across our screens and into out hearts. -Palmerlime http://www.dvdinmypants.com/reviews/O-V/tripping.php
