Tristan & Isolde Summary
Tristan & Isolde is an epic love tragedy based on the medieval legend of Tristan and Iseult and stars James Franco, Sophia Myles, and Rufus Sewell. In the early Middle Ages, Tristan (Franco) is the greatest knight to defend the Britidh kingdom that will soon be unified into one under Lord Marke (Sewell), Tristan's father figure and where his loyalty lies. When Tristan is injured and thought dead, his body is sent by sea in a boat funeral, but crashes onto the shores of Ireland, where he is found by the Irish princess, Isolde (Myles). They then embarke on a forbidden affair that carries onto the shores of Britain, where Isolde is to marry now King Marke. Tristan and Isolde are torn between their love and their loyalty to Marke. Their affair could hurt the ones they love and the ones who have loved them, divide the British kingdoms again, and worst, unraval the treaty between long time enemies, Britain and Ireland, and give the Irish king a reason to attack Britain.
