Hey all! im now a member...& i still cant watch true blood? :(...can someone tell me how do do it...as im obviously doin something wrong here...im very confused lol :) x
WOW...after watching this epi last night, I was speechless... I was debating about writing anything, but I've gathered my thoughts, so I'll say a few words...don't shoot me fellow fans, I'm just trying to work through all of this... First of all...this used to be a well-written show, right? I mean, I'm not sure now...maybe I got caught up in the hype or something. After last night's finale, I find myself wondering if I've actually been glamoured, this whole time, by how different the show is, the exciting situations presented (those two things can be, mostly, attributed to the books, right?), and the quality of acting, so much, that I didn't actually see the quality and consistency of the writing for what it really was. Maybe I'm expecting too much...I will probably have to go back and watch previous epis to see now. Maybe the show should have just followed the books...I'll have to read them now to see what's what, but I'm assuming they're much better than what I saw last night...idk...I'm just tryin to understand 'yall... Anti-climactic, anti-climactic , anti-climactic... See, the bad thing about hyping up an epi so much, is that when it doesn't deliver, it's worse than if it had just been aired without all the preceding streamers & fireworks. Even after the steady decline of the show over the last few episodes (the last epi, in particular), I still retained some hope that the show would actually end on a good note...but I was let down again . The beginning was funny and somewhat engaging...I even laughed at Maryann a few times...but THEN, the Queen scene showed up and doused cold water on everything, and it was downhill from there. Eric even looked miserable in that scene (and, yes, I know he was supposed to be timid around her b/c of her supposed age, power, and prestige, etc., but even he seemed bored), and I couldn't help wondering if AS wasn't wincing inside, the entire time, due to her acting. I was giving ERW another chance to show her stuff this week- thinking that, perhaps, her last performance had been a fluke- but honestly, her acting is so bad that even the reveal, that the queen had Eric selling V, was not interesting (and it should have been). THEN they had the nerve to let that be all we see of Eric in the ENTIRE epi?! What the...? Yet, even after that yawn-worthy interlude, I still had a glimmer of hope that the show would recover, and I'd regain the interest I had during the first several minutes...but alas, no...apart from the few moments I was pi**ed off when I thought they were going to kill off Sam, the show just, honestly, sucked. I was shocked to see Sam was the bull, but other than that, even the witch's death was anti-climactic. Oh, and then Eggs...while I wasn't surprised to see them kill him off, Sookie's trip inside his mind was as anti-climactic and unrevelatory as the one during Tara's exorcism. I mean, we ALREADY KNEW he had killed the fake voodoo lady & Daphne, and had just stabbed Sam, but what about where he & Maryann hooked up and what happened at that site w/the blood on the rock?* They could have given us more than that...and even Bill proposing to Sookie didn't move the needle any past "Blah"...maybe it's just me, but the fact that we heard so much about their real-life engagement kind of made this less interesting to me...as well as the fact that the rest of the epi was just UGH, and also, the fact that (although Bill's nice) I'm more Team Eric & Sookie, now, so...they should have had Eric send her the pretty purple dress. *Update: "Blood on the Rock" Mystery Solved OK, so the blood on the rock was from the fake voodoo lady (thanks vickachkaa and thetravellerjohn21)...this fun-fact still renders the mind-trip anticlimactic, since there was nothing interesting or intriguing revealed...regarding Eggs' past: I guess that was explained away by his stating that he had done a lot of bad things in his past and had paid that debt/done his time, or whatever...but the whole thing was rushed, and could have been more interesting if the writers had really tried to make it so... Other thoughts about this crap: And what about the soft-drink ads during the show? Could they BE anymore obvious? (Actually, the fact that they were shameless plugs was almost funny.) And, then, those two random ladies...why were they there? I guess it doesn't really matter since it was all mostly crap anyway, but still, I would have rather seen Eric (away from the queen) or some of the other series regulars talking. I will give props, of course, to Lafayette & Jason for the bits of comedy they provided (I miss funny Andy...the writers suck :( ), but no actor, and no jokes, could turn this sh*t into sunshine. Well, I guess the good thing is that, while I will watch the show when it returns next season, I definitely won't be on pins and needles waiting for it, so I guess I should thank Mr. Ball for eliminating that discomfort: Gee...thanks Alan Ball... : P I hope this epi's title isn't the writing on the wall for the show's future, but if the writing is going to continue in this vein, then it's all tapped out (all puns intended), and I'll have to siphon my entertainment (yes, I actually said that :O ) from somewhere else. : ( This has been dedicated to Benedict "Eggs" Talley: Goodbye, Eggs...I will miss you and your sexy self... : (
I have to say. It was a good season finale. But i wish there was at least two more showes left. Thank god im reading the books already on book #7. its getting so good. I have to say i really like the books better then the show. dont get me wrong the show is great. but i wish they would stick with the book a little more. maryanne is gone finally it was time for her to go. in the book she came and went. not only that her and sam was with each other a few times. can't wait for next season.
They kept me an hour later at work for inventory so I just barely missed it :( Please Internet Gods, I pray to thee, give me mine True Blood Finale! :/
As the holiday weekend approaches, I ponder whether I'd rather have the extra day off to enjoy the weekend or if I'd rather have the True Blood finale episode on Sunday! After catching up on last week's lead-up episode to the finale, " Frenzy ," I'm a little bummed the episode itself wasn't great, but am even more anxious to see how on earth all the new drama of Season 2 will wrap up when the finale finally airs Sept 13! It seems as if the Light of Day drama won't be returning, but instead the finale will be focused on the battle for Bon Temps between Sookie and crew and MaryAnn. As Bill discovered during his annoyingly long visit with the queen, maenads like MaryAnn have imagined their immortality, but that alone has made it true. Also, she'll only be appeased when this possibly made up god appears and is happy with her sacrifice. Obviously, as we saw from Jason and Sam's attempts, a fake god won't cut it, so how will Bill find a way for the god to appear? Does Sam actually need to be sacrificed? Will Sookie's newly uncovered powers be what can rule over the evil of MaryAnn? While I've come to love True Blood even more this season, I'm a little worried that all of this won't come to a satisfactory conclusion. What do you predict will happen and is there a difference between what you imagine will happen and what you'd like to happen? Also, being the end of a season, it's not all about conclusions but also the cliffhanger opening to the next season, so what kind of cliffhanger will we end up with? Share your thoughts and predictions as we impatiently await the finale!
i am just in luvvv with eric! i heard dat in the book eric and sookie is togetherrr is this true? if so, give me details~ also do you guys want them to be together?? lots and lots of opinions please!! want to hear from all of the fan out there :)
Ok, my fellow True Blood fans may not agree with me, but I've got to say it: this epi was the WORST True Blood episode that I believe I've seen. Maybe I've been spoiled by the quality of the show overall, but the writing, direction, and much of the acting in this episode was downright horrible. Here's the Good, Bad, Ugly...and the Crazy about "Frenzy": The Good: Eric, Lafayette & The Vampire Crew* (now w/Jason & Andy : ) The best scenes in this epi were those with Eric and/or Lafayette in them, and if they had just clipped those together* and aired them, that would have been better than the entirety of this episode. Speaking of Eric, what is he doing? Recruiting for his new vampire posse or something? Between Sookie & Lafayette, he is really laying it on thick with all the vampire recruitment visions. It's fun though, and I'm so glad that, at least, we had him & Lafayette to make the show watchable. Eric creeped me out again, though: last week, it was how he looked just before attacking Sookie's neck, and this week it was him with the kids (who were cute & funny btw...esp the lil boy) ...but he's a vampire (I know) and those scenes were a mix of humor and creepiness, which is to be expected on this show, so... Oh, btw, I'm glad Pam is back...she was funny, as usual. Did I mention that Eric was looking Sharp & Sexy, suited up like that, and that I am so happy to see him back in full effect this week? Because he was and I am... : ) *UPDATE: I originally wrote this after having experienced considerable difficulty in getting to watch the epi (finally did after 1 am this morning), and all this after the regular one week wait...plus, having read and watched promos for the Queen's intro for almost the past month, and having read last week that Alan Ball was actually writing this episode, to say that I was eagerly anticipating it would be an understatement. I was tired, but finally the long-awaited moment came...THEN, to have those Queen scenes at the beginning and a weak show, overall, I was p*$$ed off, to say the least. After getting some rest & watching it (a better copy) again this evening, I was able to appreciate some more of the humor in the episode...namely Jason & Andy's, so I would have to add their scenes to the aforementioned clip : ) The Bad: The Queen Un. im. pressed. I know the character was supposed to be eccentric and decadent, but her acting left MUCH to be desired. I will say that the wardrobe/design/photography people did a fantastic job for those scenes, b/c they were visually stunning. It turns out the pics and buildup for the queen and her court were better than the actual scenes themselves, though...as a whole, they were pretty anticlimactic and boring. I felt sorry for Bill (and Stephen Moyer) for being stuck there, and would have to say that he was the best thing about them. Next to the queen, the quality of his acting really stood out...the disparity b/w the two was painfully obvious...oh, and did I mention that Bill looked Hot when he was lounging by that pool? Because he did... The Ugly*: Maryann the Maened Talking about my disdain for, and weariness of, Maryann's presence on the show has become cliche, so I won't say any more about it this week...other than what I just said, that is...I have to say, though, her scenes just make me go "Ugh"...ok, that was it... *Btw, I am referring to the character's evil ways and overexposure, not the actress's looks...Michelle Forbes is, obviously, a beautiful person. The CrAzY: Tara's Crazy Love & Other Loony Toon Adventures (The Big 'Ole Egg too) I understand the concept of "standing by your man," but I have to say, her going back to that witch with just her love & good intentions was the most dumba** thing she could have done...Sookie was right on when she told her she was being an f'ing idiot. Speaking of Tara & Sookie, there was a bit of overacting with them this week, but it wasn't unlike that of others in this epi...maybe it was the direction, but there was definitely something SERIOUSLY OFF about the overall quality of the show this week. Speaking of crazy, the scenes w/Maryanne's loony toon minions was overkill this week...I mean c'mon...enough already. And how could I POSSIBLY forget the icing on top of all this lunacy? In the end, we see Tara & Benedict joyfully building a nest around this humongous egg in the middle of the bed. What. the. h*!!? This s/l has definitely gone off the deep end (I wonder, though, if this is the spawn of Maryann and Sam...remember they mated? That'd be a pretty long gestation period, but they are supernatural...and, really, how could that possibility be any crazier than the rest of this wacky s/l?). Other Thoughts*: I loved the standoff b/w Bill & Eric...can we say Hotness? I'm glad they gave Bill some leverage against Eric, b/c they had been making him look like a punk for a while this season, and that is not sexy. I hope Hoyt goes back to Jessica...I know she bit his mom, but honestly, she deserved it...turns out, she is one horrible person. Andy & Jason did the best they could with the crap writing they got for this epi, but honestly, even they couldn't turn crap into Christmas...(I know, I know...I couldn't come up w/anything else : ) *As I stated in the update, I was a little PO'd after watching this the first time. Also, the recording I watched missed the last 6-7 minutes of the epi, so I missed the Eric/Bill standoff initially. After watching this a second time, I realized that Jason did have some pretty good lines, and although Andy didn't get to exercise his funny chops as much as he has been, I did enjoy their scenes...so as I pretty much said before, while they did a great job with what they were given to work with, they still weren't able to change the fact that the overall epi was Craptastic. Bottom Line: I expected better from you Alan Ball (Mr. True Blood creator, producer, and writer of this shotty episode) ...a whole lot better.
why is it taking so freaking long to find the links!! jeez usually their up by like 8 o clock but this is just annoying now. i wanna watch true blood NOWWWWW!!!
This episode was hilarious, exciting, riveting....and too short! Is it just me, or was this epi slightly shorter than usual? In some shows, a few minutes don't make much of a difference, but in True Blood every moment counts! Bear with me for a moment, though, b/c I do have a few small bones to pick with this epi :O It seemed to be plodding along at points...sometimes, it was as though the scene/dialogue was just filler to get to the next action/exciting sequence. For instance: The freezer scenes at Merlotte's: After they initially locked themselves in, it just seemed that the only thing making those scenes remotely interesting was Andy. The dialogue would have been completely blah, had it not been punctuated by his hilariousness. The exorcism with Tara: ...was "the worst intervention ever in the history of the world", as Lafayette said, LOL. I just expected more. Before Sookie came, it was like they were just marking time until she got there (although Lafayette periodically cracked me up), and then once she showed up, the 'deliverance' was anticlimactic. I mean, when Sookie tapped into Tara's brain, they showed images of the Maryann-related events that were stored in her memory, but how was Sookie's seeing that supposed to bring Tara back? The teary-eyed part with Sookie, Tara, and her mom would have been endearing, had it seemed anything significant actually happened prior to that. It just seemed like something was missing from those scenes, as though some stuff had been cut out or something...I don't know...I'm a fan of True Blood, but they could have done better with some of the writing for this epi. All in all, it was still good though, and I enjoyed the comedy/action/drama sequences so much that I forgave the other stuff and wanted more! Ok, so now that that's out of the way, let's get to the good stuff : ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Good Stuff...Oh Yeah... : D Hot, Sexy, Sweet: Ok, I loved the opening with Sookie & Eric! These days, I get happy any time I get to see Eric in a scene...especially with Sookie, so this beginning was definitely a treat! Loved their kiss & was grinning from ear to ear...except when he bared his fangs and she let him bite her. Yes, I know he's a vampire and all, and this is par for the course, and Bill has done it, blah blah blah...but for some reason, that just creeped me out. I guess b/c of the way he attacked her neck, and just before, he looked like he was getting ready to feast on one of his prey or something. Prior to that, though, I was like "Yeah!" The Hillarious: The first part of this epi was pretty funny...The Return to Bon-Temps in the beginning, Andy & His Wine Bottle, At Bill's with Hoyt's Horny Mom, LOL...Jason was the highlight of the scenes at Bill's: "If someone can call me back and tell me if we've been attacked by terrorists or what?" and "Uh oh...there are those f*&%ing eyes again," LOL. When I watched a second time, I noticed how he perked up when Hoyt said there was a new waitress at the coffee house, then got annoyed and was ready to go fight after Hoyt said she was dead, LOL...that's Jason, the perpetual playboy. Even Hoyt had a few funny lines, i.e., him thinking his mom's diet pills may have been the reason her eyes blacked out and she started acting crazy, and him trying to smooth over the fact that Maryann had taken over Sookie's house with: "That's just something they say: 'party over at Maryann's'," LOL.... There are three characters who I always get a kick out of, and they are Andy, Jason, and Lafayette. I have to say, Andy is a nut and I love him..."I had a nanny, her name was Annie...Annie the nanny," hahaha...he never fails to make me laugh whenever he's on screen. Jason is a lovable idiot, but in this epi, you could actually see him start to take Sookie's advice and use his brain a little. I thought it was smart of him to put the gun to Arlene's head, knowing that Terry had a thing for her and would probably be willing to negotiate (or was he still clueless and just lucked up on that one?). Speaking of Terry, he had me rolling too: "'Don't hurt my special lady'...'We will un-f*&% this situation at a later date'," LOL. The crazy bar scenes w/Maryann's possessed were like the comedy version of a B-rated horror movie on crack...the licking of people's legs, and what-not, was a little unsettling, but other than that, watching all those folks act like idiots was somewhat amusing. The coroner (the one who sodomized a pine tree, LOL) is another funny one: "god ain't gone be happy with you Jason...I bet he'll eat ya." Hahaha... Lafayette made the exorcism/intervention scenes bearable...it was funny to watch him get more and more frustrated with the situation. He went from trying to give Tara, somewhat, positive reinforcement: "Now, you're stronger than whatever this is and you know it...now get the f*&% up outta there" > to quoting scriptures with her Mom > to drinking > to negative reinforcement: slapping AND yelling in Tara's face, asking her "would you snap the f*&% out of it?!" > to "this has got to be the worst m'f*&%ing intervention in the history of the world" & drinking some more, LOL...he's just funny. Even him answering the door with the sorority chick, and fearfully telling Bill "you can come on in," cracked me up...sigh...what would we do without Lafayette? Bill's Coolness Points Restored (well...some): Ok, Bill got a few of his cool points back in this epi. I actually started liking him again, a little...not more than Eric, but not really less than either. Still, I'm sure when Eric shows up again in next week's epi, he will shine like a big bright shinin' star and Bill will fade into the backdrop as he has all season...so sad...but am I sorry that Eric has taken a more prominent role in the show? Not. At. All. Anyways, although it seems they've been emasculating Bill a bit this season (good examples: 1) Eric stealing his girl, then telling him to step aside...and he had to do it, and 2) In this epi, his getting sick, to the point of throwing up, from sucking Maryann's blood...it's like, what CAN he do?), I did see a glimmer of the Bill from season 1 in this epi, with his 'take charge' attitude, and that's what made his stock go back up a little. The Boring & Getting On My LAST Nerve: Maryann is getting on my cottonpickin' nerves now...I just don't enjoy seeing her and want her to be gone. Eggs was funny, though, when he joyfully asked her if she wanted them to go kill something so they'd have something extra fresh...why, was it funny? I don't know, it was just the way he said it....and also, the fact that his pupils were dialated to the max. When Sam told Andy about what Maryann was and what her intentions were, he thoughtfully pondered the situation and (hilariously) said, "If what you say is true, we need to kill that b*tch." That's what I'm sayin' Andy... that is EXACTLY what I'm sayin'. I was so glad when Sookie zapped that bwitch with her new superpowers, and will truly be happy when she gets fried. : D As I said, there were some things they could have done better in this epi, but in the end, it left me wanting more, as usual (I was hoping to see the queen...I don't think that was actually her leg we saw, since it had blood dripping down it, but then again...). ...sigh...Sunday's not here YET? : (
