TV Ratings: Olympics dominate repeats and Valentine's Day programs

Fast National ratings for Friday, Feb. 14, 2014It's no surprise that the 2014 Winter Olympics dominated television on Friday, Feb. 14. With almost all other networks showing repeats or Charlie Brown specials, there wasn't much chance of toppling the Winter Games. Even new episodes of "Enlisted" and "Raising Hope" on FOX didn't stand much of chance. The Olympics dipped somewhat in viewers between Thursday and Friday, even with the highly anticipated men's figure-skating finals. An average of 19.1 million viewers tuned in to the NBC primetime broadcast.Still, that number dwarfed the nearest competition, a repeat of "Hawaii Five-0" on CBS at 9 p.m. Dismal numbers for new programming were represented by "Enlisted" (1.8 million viewers), "Raising Hope" (1.5 million) and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.86 million).Overall, NBC's 19.1 million viewers led to a 11.0 rating/19 share in households. CBS followed with 5.4 million viewers (3.5/6). ABC (4.3 million, 2.8/5), FOX (2.4 million, 1.5/3) and... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/tv-ratings-olympics-dominate-repeats-and-valentines-day-programs.html

TV ratings: ABC scores demo wins while CBS takes Friday

Fast National ratings for Friday, Jan. 17, 2014It was another solid Friday night for the usual suspects on ABC and CBS, with the triple whammy of "Undercover Boss," "Hawaii Five-0" and "Blue Bloods" snagging the night's most viewers, while ABC pulled wins in the 18-49 demographic with "Shark Tank" and "20/20." Unfortunately, the low debut for FOX's new comedy "Enlisted" wasn't a fluke, with 0.4 million viewers dropping out from premiere week -- which wouldn't actually that big of a drop if the number weren't so low in the first place. CBS won the night overall with an average 10.6 million viewers and a 6.6 rating/11 household share. ABC trailed behind with 6.3 million (4.2/7), while NBC nabbed 5.2 million (3.3/6), FOX got 4.5 million (2.7/5) and The CW trailed with 801,000 viewers and a 0.5/1.In the 18-49 demo, however, ABC pulled ahead with an average of 1.7 for the night, with CBS earning... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/tv-ratings-abc-scores-demo-wins-while-cbs-takes-friday.html

TV Ratings: 'Grimm,' 'Dracula' down on a night of football, reruns

Fast National ratings for Friday, Jan. 3, 2014Despite the competition being reruns and football specials, "Grimm" and "Dracula" both returned down with new episodes on NBC. New episodes of both shows -- the only regularly scheduled, non-repeats of the night -- failed to win their timeslots. FOX's college football special did that for both hours."Grimm" was down almost a million viewers from its most recent new episode in December -- 6.4 million viewers dropped to only 5.6 million -- while "Dracula" suffered a similar drop from 3.8 million viewers to 2.9 million.Reruns ABC, CBS and The CW gave the night's win to FOX, which aired a college football special from 8 to 10 p.m.FOX managed to get 7.2 million viewers and a 4.2 rating/7 share in households for the night. That network was followed by CBS (6.5 million, 4.1/7), NBC (5.5 million, 3.6/6) and ABC (5.4 million, 3.6/6). TV ratings: 'Nikita' series finale is flat, CBS wins with reruns

Fast National ratings for Friday, Dec. 27, 2013"Nikita's" series finale might have been perfect, but it didn't draw any more than its season average of viewers. The CW drama didn't even get a Season 4 high from the show's final episode, "Canceled," which drew 813,000 viewers and a 0.6 rating/1 share in households. That was down from its second and third episodes in Season 4, though it was up from the season premiere and was a significant boost from the previous two episodes.Meanwhile, CBS continued its streak of running reruns -- this time "Undercover Boss" and "Garth Brooks Vegas" -- and won the night with both programs. "20/20" was down from last week for ABC, but was still the most-watched program of the night. NBC's special "What We Wasted Our Year On" hit soft with 4.4 million viewers and a 2.9 rating/5 share in households. CBS's average for the night was 5.2 million viewers and... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/tv-ratings-nikita-series-finale-is-flat-cbs-wins-with-reruns.html

TV ratings: 'Blue Bloods' dips, but still wins; 'I Love Lucy Christmas Special' shows strength

Fast national ratings for Friday, December 20, 2014While most networks were in full holiday rerun mode or airing holiday special, CBS' new episodes of "Hawaii Five-0" and "Blue Bloods," along with the special colorized version of the "I Love Lucy" Christmas special helped the network take Friday night. "Lucy" show particular strength, up about a million eyeballs from the usual 8 p.m. time slot occupant, "Undercover Boss," last week.CBS pulled in an average of 9.4 million viewers and a 5.9/10 household share to win the night. NBC eked out second place with 5.4 million and a 3.4/6, while ABC was right behind with 5.3 million and a 3.5/6. FOX came in fourth with 2.6 million and a 1.6/3, while The CW came in last with a mere 808,000 and a 0.5/1.CBS may have won the night in total viewers, but it tied ABC in the adults 18-49 demo with a 1.2. TV ratings: CBS wins Friday with 'Blue Bloods,' 'Hawaii Five-0,' 'Undercover Boss' combo

Fast national ratings for Friday, December 13, 2014 Despite a valiant effort on the part of ABC's reality hit "Shark Tank," a brand-new episode of "Blue Bloods" helped snag the nightly win for CBS. The CW's "The Carrie Diaries" and "Nikita" were down even lower from last week's not-so-stellar numbers, while FOX's "Raising Hope" dipped ever-so-slightly. CBS pulled in an average 8.97 million viewers and a 5.7 rating/10 household share to win the night. ABC's "Shark Tank" success landed the alphabet network in second place, with 6.1 million viewers and a 3.9/7. NBC came in third with 5.25 million viewers and a 3.4/6.
