TV Ratings: 'Shark Tank' keeps ABC afloat in the key demo

Fast National ratings for Friday, Sept. 21, 2012Though ABC slipped a bit this week, allowing CBS to take back the Friday night lead, its reality series "Shark Tank" managed to keep most of its demographic viewers interested in its second week of the season. Still, CBS edged ahead in average viewers for the entire evening, and will likely take a more significant lead when its fall season begins in earnest next week.CBS edged ahead with an average of 5.3 million viewers and a 3.6 rating/7 share in households, stealing the crown from last week's victor, ABC (5.1 million, 3.4/6). TV Ratings: 'Fringe' finale rises while CBS heavy hitters slide

"Fringe" has been picked up for a fifth and final season, so the ratings are of little consequence to fans at this point -- but you'll still be glad to hear that Friday night's Season 4 finale ratings were slightly better than the week before. Even "The Finder," which was canceled by FOX this week, saw a small ratings boost. TV Ratings: 'Blue Bloods' and 'CSI: NY' carry Friday night

Friday night was all about CBS crime dramas."Blue Bloods" and "CSI: NY" were the big winners of the evening with 10.1 million viewers and 9 million viewers respectively. Fan favorite (and recently renewed) "Fringe" held steady at 4.0 million viewers.In the eight o'clock hour, reality shows took the top spot. CBS's "Undercover Boss" narrowly beat out ABC's "Shark Tank" with 6.3 million and 6.0 million. At 9, "CSI: NY" held a 5 million viewer lead over any of it's competitors. As usual, CBS scored the most viewers as folks tuned in for new episodes of "Undercover Boss," "CSI: NY" and its anchor show, "Blue Bloods," which drew the highest ratings of any show of the night. CBS naturally won the night, averaging 8.7 million viewers and a 5.6 rating/10 share, while ABC and NBC battled for second place.
