Pilot Information
ABC has ordered a pilot for V, an update on NBC's 1983 sci fi miniseries. The script, written by Scott Peters The 4400, centers on a female Homeland Security agent. The original miniseries centered around an alien culture visiting Earth under the guise of "Friends" (Friendship is Universal), but plan to take over the planet, and a small group of humans resolved to expose and foil the visitor's plans.
The new series pilot will focus on a Homeland Security agent named Erica Evans. She has an aimless son who attaches himself to the newly-arrived aliens, causing lots of tension at home. Like the original, the new V will center around aliens who say they've come to Earth to help but have other motivations. Because this is a reworking of the original story, it's doubtful that any of the performers from the original will reprise their roles.

V Summary
At all corners of the Earth humans awaken to the sight of spaceships hovering over every major world city. As ominous as this sounds, we have to admit, it sure beats coffee as the go-to morning pick-me-up. Jokes aside, the ships' occupants, known only as "The Visitors", spread their message quickly and clearly: They have come in peace, bearing gifts of medical miracles and technological breakthroughs far beyond earthlings' wildest imaginations. Many of the world's citizens have been enamored by the aliens and their generous offers, believing every word The Visitors utter. But while on assignment, Homeland Security agent Erica Evans discovers their intentions are anything but altruistic: The Visitors' claims of peace, generosity and doing no harm are...LIES! V is a reimagining of the 80s sci-fi classic of the same title.
