The movie is a parody of musician biopics like Ray and Walk the Line. The MPAA gave the film an R rating for sexual content,drug use and language. Dewey Cox parodies several music legends, including Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, and others. The film was released in the United States and Canada on December 21, 2007.
