Weeds Casting News: Julie Bowen

Word on the street is that Julie Bowen ( Lost , Boston Legal ) is about to be cast as a mother on Weeds that also gets friendly with Silas. Very friendly... Also, more details on an earlier story - while Heylia and Conrad will be departing as series regulars, their characters still will be recurring (it is unknown in how many episodes they will appear). Sorry for any confusion! Source: TV Guide

Big Changes for "Weeds"

Weeds will be returning on June 16th, which is great news, because it has become one of the strongest comedies on TV! However, when Weeds returns, a number of things will be different. For the 4th season, the show will no longer be using the "Little Boxes" theme song that we have come to know and love. After the season premiere, a new theme song with new footage will be used. This is because if you recall, in the 3rd season finale, the town of Agrestic burned down, so the writers want to reflect that change in the opening. Other changes: Mary Kate Olsen and Matthew Modine (Sullivan, the creepy real estate guy) will not be returning as guest stars. I'm alright with both of those; I was never too impressed with Olsen and I think that Modine's story line has played out. However, series regulars Romany Malco (Conrad) and Tonye Patano (Heylia James) will also be departing. I'll be sad to see both of them go - especially Malco - as I enjoyed his chemistry with Mary-Louise Parker (Nancy). Source: NY Post Image courtesy of TV Guide

Mary Kate Olsen Enters the Emmy Race

Showtime has submitted Mary-Kate Olsen's name into the running for an Emmy for her guest starring work on last season of Weeds . Personally, I didn't think that Olsen was terrible, but I didn't find her work to be particularly impressive or memorable (or Emmy worthy). Thoughts? Source: BuddyTV

Weeds: Season 4 Premieres on June 16

Showtime has just released its summer schedule and Weeds is among those included in the network's Monday comedy block. Building on the success of last summer's hit comedy lineup, the network will once again pair off Weeds with another half-hour series. Weeds returns for its fourth season at 10pm ET/PT.
