Weeds Series Finale: Did It All Go Up in Smoke?

The Botwins — if we can still call them that — said farewell Sunday, with a Weeds series finale that a stoner might describe as... a total bummer, man . For those who have stayed with Weeds over its eight ever-morphing seasons, it was a nice nugget of nostalgia to hear the original version of "Little Boxes" before the final hour. From there, we flashed eight-odd years into the future, as noted by Stevie's impending Bar Mitzvah. The finale featured several fun, but too-brief cameos from former cast members who breezed in and out as we stumbled toward the main question we hoped this finale might answer: Has Nancy ( Mary-Louise Parker ) learned from her mistakes? And if so, where does she go from here? Read More...

'Weeds' series finale: 'There was some sort of benediction,' says Mary-Louise Parker

"Weeds" came to an end Sunday night (Sept. 16), having followed the Botwin family and their band of cohorts for eight seasons. Star Mary-Louise Parker says she thought the series finale was beautiful."I just cried when I read it. I think it's beautiful," says Parker. "[Creator Jenji Kohan] managed to bring things together in a way that was really satisfying for me except for the fact that it was an end because, you know, I think most of us are sad about that." "I think she just managed to bring things together in a way that wasn't necessarily a completely -- she didn't sort of make it a total happily-ever-after thing, but there was hope in it, and there was some sort of benediction, I felt like," Parker adds."I'm just proud of all of us and I think [Kohan] just made something amazing, and we were lucky enough to be in it," she finishes.Kohan adds,...

Fake joints were handed out at a news conference promoting the series, which concludes the adventures of a drug-dealing suburban widow with Sunday's hour-long finale (10 p.m. EDT). "I used to say that pot took away from my rent, and now it pays it," wisecracked cast member Justin Kirk. But for Jenji Kohan, creator and executive producer, the legacy of the show starring Mary-Louise Parker is far more substantive than one-liners. Read More...

Weeds 100th Episode Sneak Peeks: A Return to Agrestic

Like most people who watch Weeds , I thought that the show's prime came during the days of Agrestic, of pot-dealing at the local soccer matches, of U-Turn, Heylia, Conrad, and Celia. The show may have been able to regenerate into different forms of the central premise, keeping itself alive for eight seasons in the process, but it never quite lived up to the heights of the first three seasons. Now, in the penultimate episode of Weeds before the hour-long series finale, the show looks to be making a return home, both in terms of location and the source of its creative peak. Read More...
