acting, writing or plot?

james is a good actor thats a given, in dukes of hazard he's great but do you, the viewer, think that this is due to the writing? or perhaps the plot is a solid foundation and without this the whole show would fail?

to anyone who has watched the show:

do you think that its the plot, the writing or the acting that makes this show?

all of it. if the plot and premise wasn't good enough than the chemistry and acting would come off really forced and crazy. the lines are ok and the writing definitely helps to foster a really interesting story. we definitely judge the character's on their diction. it's in essence all the above.

thats what i thought but i read a few reviews that said it was just the acting that was keeping this show afloat.

I think that although the plot is really good in some individual episodes, the writing and acting are their main advantages, the jokes are really entertaining, although if it weren't for the actors ability to portray those characters, the jokes wouldn't play nearly as well.

i think the portrayal is a big part of why i like the show. the whole shawn-gus friendship is hilarious and they really pull it off. and the jokes are funny too. plot can be epic, and is sometimes iffy. but its the combination that works.

I'd say acting, hands down. The episodes are extremely formulaic. The plots are generally pretty average, with a good twist thrown in now and then. The cases don't even really interest me much anymore.

I watch this show solely for the acting. If Psych had a cast of average actors I would have lost interest long ago. They're great individually, and together have amazing chemistry.

Everything else about this show could suck, but if the funny interactions remained unchanged, I'd still watch it. Were the interaction to change, however, I'd have no problem never watching the show again.
