Philosophers or Sorcerers?

| loading

First published in the U.K J.K.Rowliing called her best selling novel Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone however when published in America they were offended so they changed the named to Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. What do you think do you call it Philosophers or Sorcerers? Do you think America should have changed the name?

I don't think they should've changed the name, and besides i don't understand why they get offended at? Besides the tittle is not as important as the story but for me it will always be philosophers.

well i must say i perfer as philosopher stone it just seems to fit the harry potter theme so much better then sorcerers stone. I also do not understand why they changed it but i remember when it first first came out i watched it it was in theatres known as philosopher stone

I am wondering if the word philosopher means slightly different things in England and the US (or has a second definition in England that we don't use in the US)...so using 'philosopher' would be confusing to US readers, perhaps?

An interesting discussion...perhaps a UK reader can sort it out for us!

i like philoshophers stone, but they might have changed it because there is an anime (fullmetel alchemist) that is about these brothers searching for the philoshophers stone. the anime rocks!
