Blogspot - To stay, or not to stay?

That most certainly is the question of the moment in my eyes. I take a personal role in actively deleting spam links and zango/affiliate links that users constantly spam Sidereel with daily in order to make a quick buck (which is highly unlikely) but recently I've found Blogspot to be agonizingly painful to remove as users can simply create multiple Blogspot accounts, all linking to their main, often banned from Sidereel, URL's.

Reverting to the title, I propose a full ban on all Blogspot URL's. I say cut out loses and completely ban blogspot from being listed on Sidereel. You may argue, but that's completely unfair, I have a legit blogspot site and now I'm being punished? - That's a fair point. But sometimes I feel a cull is an only option. To quote wanted, "Kill one, save a thousand". removing blogspot will sacrifice one or two legitimate sites, but will also prevent thousands of spam links being added daily.

"Won't the spammers just move on to a different service?" - Most likely, but there's only so many services out there and many have policies against the type of Advertising these blogspot URL's are forcing tens/hundreds of thousands of Sidereel users to view daily.

I'm going to cut my article short to save users being put of by the wall of text that stands before them, but if you agree, I'd love to hear your comments or simply vote my Discussion so we can spread awareness and gain more opinions on the matter.

Thanks Sidereel users!

I dont know what your talking about.. most blogspot sites I visit work its the first ones I hit up before any other ones. I believe your making a big deal about basically nothing. If you can't tell by now what links are spam (mostly contains no tilte about the movie or tv show eg.. DOWNLOAD NOW, Watch Now, ect). I dont know what to tell you...

These 4 i just wonder arcoss are not spam sites...

No offense, but you obviously don't watch over the movie links too frequently. Every other minute, blogspot sites redirecting to affiliate links and zango sites previously banned from Sidereel are added to the Movie catagories. You won't see them too much as tonnes of us are actively deleting them and Admins are forever banning the blogspot sites in question (So I've been told).

I'll make a list from now on then, as being as I am making a big deal out of nothing, you'll be unpleasantly surprised at the pure spam that's deleted off of Sidereel (Blogspot wise) daily.

Yeah, I have bee, there's still a bunch of bots spamming the Season 1 of most the big movies, something along the lines of url2it, they still seem to re-appear.

I just find 80% of the blogspot links I visit are spam.

On a side note, blogspot links spamming the news section with movie links when Content Admin has locked the pages (The Dark Knight)

So I think you've been proved wrong just there cheez, blogspot users have nothing to lose as they can simply recreate in seconds, so they choose to spam news links. Another downside to blogspot.

yeah i guess a few can ruin it for others...I def. dont agree with spamming the news thats bs.. but these spammer wont stop when blogger is stop, they'll find a free host somewhere and begin all over...

im sure if it came down to it the legit blogspot sites would have no problem with blogspot being banned, they can move its site too.. pay the $50.00 a year for a real to com and sever.

also little off topic ..when a page gets locked by content admin doesn't this indicate copyright complains..

No, they've locked the pages to reduce spam links. I'm not sure how it helps entirely and I'm talking with Yoga to try and understand why this helps. The only thing I can assume is that the Moderators may not be online during non peak hours to Moderate spam.

Just an assumption, can't see why they're doing this everyday. I'm most likely wrong.

The pages locked by a username of ContentAdmin (including ContentAdmin1 - 4) are due to copyright issues. As for spam, definitely report any spam sites you find to spamsucks@sidereel.com and we can take a closer look to see if it should be banned. Thanks!

This is the example I am talking about.

I am forwarding these to that mail address but I still feel Blogspot should be removed completely.

God YES please ban all blogspot links! If I had a dime for every blogspot link I've personally deleted I would be rich. I've never found a single link that is legitimate and I often find a dozen links to blogspot on a single page and they are all SPAM. I delete 10 links and more are added overnight. It should DEFINITELY BE BANNED!!!!!!!!!!!! It's just not worth it - Blogspot makes Sidereel a lot less fun and functional. Boo on them!

  11. ViewPrisonBreakSend a Compliment - 3:14 PDT, 23 July, 2008

Thank god, Singer! Somebody else who agrees. That's scarily quite true, I'd say a good 40%-60% of the Sidereel links I ever delete are Blogspot affiliate marketing or just pure Zango spam.

We could really do with some more opinions here :)
