They shouldn't even make a seventh season. At this point all the major story lines have finished. Lucas and Peyton are clearly together for good and anymore serious break-up drama would just be contrived. Nathan is almost ready to go to the NBA and that's the only story left to finish with Nathan and Haley. At this point the only character who has any interesting stories left is Brooke, so I guess they could go all 7th Heaven and do one last season with just her and Sam, but that isn't worth 20 episodes. Just marry Lucas and Peyton, send Nathan to the Charlotte Bobcats, kill Dan, Skills has done nothing in the series, and I could care less about Mouth. I don't know what to do with Brooke. End the series at the end of this season because the seventh will just feel forced.
They've been saying that for a long time. Between him and Joy Galeotti, I'm pretty sure this is the show's last season, because they both seem to want to move on. However, I kind of want to add that with the current economic climate, I hope that he's not putting too much hope on a lucrative movie career. I think Mark or one of the producers said it best, it's really nice to have a consistent pay check right now! But at the same time, while it would be really nice to have one final season to put everything completely to rest, I'd rather see the show go sooner than have it dragged on as a shell of its former self.
