What Are Your Favorite Scenes From This Year's Oscar-Nominated Movies? - Featured

| loading

I keep thinking about this great scene in The Wrestler between Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei's characters in a bar. I won't give it away for those who haven't seen the movie yet but it involves some funny dialogue between the two about the decade they agree was the best. It's a small, intimate moment rendered so perfectly that you completely forget you're watching two actors - it feels more like overhearing a conversation at your local dive bar.

Sometimes a movie contains a scene so well-done it has the power to stick around in our minds for years and years. Like one of the most romantic scenes in Wall-E: Eve and Wall-E's dance among the stars. So. Freaking. Cute. Not to mention beautiful. And Happy Go-Lucky contains an intense scene between the main character and her driving instructor that's so unsettling it will take me a long time to shake it off.

Sometimes I think there should be an Academy Award category for Best Scene! What do you think? Which scenes from this year's Oscar-nominated films stick out to you the most?

Definitely the scene in tropic thunder when Matthew Maconahey blocks the bomb with the Tivo. Or the scene in the Dark Knight with the Joker and Batman in the interogation room together. I think that was the point in the movie that Ledger won himself an oscar. He explained to Batman what he would have to become to beat him. It showed that Ledger's Joker was a different kind of villian that had never been seen in a movie before, one not motivated by money, but complete demented anarcy.

the part in slumdog millionaire when he saw amitabh bachan. it was so funny what he went through to see him and the way he raised his hands shouting his name was just legendary.

i'll admit the dark knight was very overated and not as good as batman begins but it was still entertaining...but your right gran torino was the best film of the yr...but the best film never wins...perfect example last year before the devil knows your dead was the best film

how could you say the dark knight sucked? That was the best superhero movie that has been made, it transcended just being a comic book movie. There was so much meaning in everything that happend in that movie, how could anyone say it sucks or is overrated. You must just not have gotten the meaning or something, I just dont understand the basis for your comment?
