Melrose 2.0 Gets Greenlight

| loading

The original Melrose Place was never a very high-minded place, but The CW is giving its reboot not only the greenlight but a green-minded director: Inconvenient Truth Oscar-winner Davis Guggenheim.

Like the 90s original, the new Melrose will follow a group of twentysomethings living in a trendy section of Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But with Guggenheim helming the pilot, they may recycle and drive Priuses this go-round.

Guggenheim, who also directed the Barack Obama bio film played at the Democratic National Convention, has a bit of history with Melrose: his brother-in-law is original cast member Andrew Shue.

The director's TV credits include the dramas Deadwood and 24, the pilot of The Unit - plus Fox's beloved Party of Five.

Do you plan to watch the Melrose remake?

Really, CW? Really! You couldn't think of anything better?

I really have no interest in this at all, nor do I think other people will.

I think it will crash and burn.
