Terminator TSCC: 2.21: "Adam raised a Cain" - Main character death - *Spoiler Alert*

| loading

Derek being killed was an absolutely contrived death it felt like they just did it for shock value to show that a main character can die. People all over the internet are calling it a "Joss Whedon" death LOL. How could Derek who has spent his whole life surviving the nuclear holocaust, interrogation from the machines, and fighting Terminators die so stupidly from not taking cover properly and strafing around corners??!! The last episode he also stupidly approached a van and got captured!! Both things are completely out of character and just look as if the writers tried to put them in to make him look stupid, well either that OR they were trying to show that maybe his mind was screwed up from the whole Jesse thing and "his head was out of the game" and is what caused his carelessness and his death (maybe part of him subconsciously wanted to die).

Either way I dont know about you but I feel cheated. It renders the whole opus between Derek and Jesse essentially pointless. One of two things is going to happen 1.either Derek is going to be seeded back into the time via they find a way to go back and save him or a new Derek from the future or 2. They just move on like nothing happened. To me either one is just ridiculous and takes away heavily from the show's dynamic. Who knows!! Maybe it was a last ditch effort to improve ratings since the show has been doing very poorly lately. Eh and btw Sarah's capture is an okay route to go I guess. We'll just have to see how the finale wraps things up.

Who cares about Derek? Sarah's been captured! Anyway, maybe both things combined with Charlie's death will turn out in John Baum (or was it John Connor???) acting more like his dead uncle and less like that gay role he played in Heroes...

He needed to die. His betrayal could have cost John's life. I wonder if he killed Jessy. Probably not.

Simply put, the time continuum does not allow 2 instances of the same person in the same time and space.

Derek changed the past causing an alternate future for Jesse.

This means that there will be another Derek coming back from the future :D

or that Jesse will take over the lead role to protect John Connor.

It's simple, when you alter the past, you will cease to exist. Time has a way to recycle unnecessary instances of yourself, when time gets alter.

I'm quite disappointed with how Derek was written out of the script. I mean his character was quite relevant and pretty damn good. John needed someone who was a resistance member from the future to help "mold" him into the leader he'd grow in to being. That being said, what the??? to just get shot in the head around a corner???? Honestly, the writers could have done so much better than that.

John should have another male character to look upto as well. As of now, the characters seem to be unbalanced. We need another guy in this show.

Also, I don't really want Jesse back. Her role was annoying. And she seemed to have her own agenda going - and not really a good one.

Actually i think his Death was justified, he got hit unawares, why would he expect there to be a Machine doing the killing given all the other attackers have been human? Also maybe its time that John is forced to deal with things himself, if he is going to be the leader of mankind. He has got to start stepping up like he did in this episode, less the teenager and more the man. As for Character balance, well to be honest there is one girl and one boy left now and if they do need another male character then you have Ellison. One can only see him maybe now trying to help John after Sarah gets taken by the police.

Also if you see the last few weeks the ratings have actually been going up, so i don't think it was a ratings ploy and they did say a major character death was coming. Overall i think the episode was strong, the show has really geared up and things that we thought would follow a pattern are just not doing that. I think the next and final episode of this season will be interesting to watch.
