House's Kal Penn Talks Obama & More - Featured [Spoilers for 5x20]

| loading

Let's see: work on popular TV show House or work for popular President Barack Obama in the White House? Hmmm. Tough decision? No! When Obama's camp came a-calling, Kal Penn thought it was his indeed his calling.

"The word that I still use to describe it is bittersweet. It's not like I'm retiring from acting. I certainly intend to come back at some point, but right now I just felt like my calling was in public service, and so we moved forward with that," says Kal, whose character, Dr. Kutner--for those of you living under a rock--was killed off in a suicide on last night's shocking episode of House.

Find out what else Kal has to say about Obama, House and his character's shocking turn of events...

    Great.

    Thanks for that.

    Ruined the episode completely.

    WTF happened to spoilers?

if you read House-related topics before watching the latest episode it kinda is your own fault.

if you tape a sports-game because you couldn't watch it live, you cannot blame newspapers for printing the result the next day..

For those who actually watched it, it's nice to know why the creators did what they did.

So thx very much for the link. I really appreciate to know why Kal Penn isn't on house anymore and to know that it had "personal reasons" rather than writers wanting Kal out or Producers trying to "spice up" the series for better ratings.

I really like Kal Penn and to see that he left for an interesting job opportunity makes it a little bit easier to swallow than any possible economic or creative reason the show-creators might have had to throw him out of the series.

Having not watched the episode there is no way I could have known that an interview with Kal Penn about 'obama and suicide' would be about house.

Granted the suicide was revealed within the first 10 minutes, but it still ruined the episode for me.

A simple spoiler warning would have been courteous.

Sorry for those who felt this was a spoiler - we assumed nothing about the title was a spoiler since it's just an interview with the actor, and nothing in the previous House episode hinted that someone was leaving, nor that suicide would be the focus of the episode. Further consideration around what others will find to be = spoilers will be taken in the future!

How can you not feel that is a spoiler?

here is an idea to prevent your show from being spoiled... IT's really simple actually... first watch the show, then read the forums. even if you think you can't stay away from the forums for 40 minutes, you got to try sweetheart, i know its hard.. but you got to fight! make your parents proud!

maxlelie, featured discussions should not have spoilers. They have every reason to be upset.

I fixed one the day after the episode aired in the States for the same reason, but I missed this one. Not everyone lives in the States and gets to see these episodes immediately. Which is why SideReel is so helpful to non-Americans.

It was a mistake. And sarcasm is not helpful.

You are right tvqueen sarcasm is not helpful, i could have gone about my complaint in a better way.

Liquidmind ur point is fair, however it is so hard to type spoiler?

The title gave no indication at all that it was about the tv show, if it had i would have never clicked on it.

All that moaning aside, at least the suicide happened early in, so i did not sit there thinking "I know the ending to this." So u did not ruin the whole episode, just the major shock of what he had done was gone.

That episode was crazy lol. I was like 'wtf?! is Kutner really dead?'. Man i don't think anyone saw that coming. That was one of the best episodes in a long long time!

"however it is so hard to type spoiler?"

Entouragefan, I would chalk this up to a simple mistake. No one who posts here seriously, and certainly not one of the Admin, wants to spoil anyone. The title is as it was in the original article, and the absense of spoiler tag was just a mistake.

That said, I simply think we need to move on now. The problem's been fixed and there is another discussion about how it relates to the show. This discussion is how it relates to Penn.
