Cancellation Buzz: TNT Cancels Trust Me - Featured

| loading

From the NY Times Arts Beat:

Trust Me, a comedy-drama about a make-believe advertising agency in Chicago, was canceled by TNT on Friday after a single season. It "achieved creative success," said Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and TCM in Atlanta. "It just didn't find an audience." According to ratings data from TNT, a Time Warner cable channel, "Trust Me" drew only about 1.4 million viewers for each episode during its 13-episode season, which started in January and ended on Tuesday.

It "had creative success" but "the world of advertising is not accessible".

C'mon, TNT, just admit it was a dog. Have some integrity. You built a crummy show hoping 2 semi-likeable guys would prop it up.

Just for context, does anyone know what a good sized audience on TNT is? 1.4 million, I don't know if that's alot or a little for them.

That stupid new show Raising the Bar averaged over 5 million viewers in the Fall. That was inexplicably a hit.

The also renewed Leverage averaged somewhere in the 3 mil range.

I think The Closer is considerably higher than both of those, so the 1.4 was quite paltry...

Interestingly, Trust Me was growing on me. It wasn't great TV, but I liked it more than quite a few other recently launched series...

I liked Trust Me, and I also like Leverage and Raising the Bar. I'm kinda disappointed that only 2 of the 3 are coming back next season. There was some funny stuff on all the shows, but Trust Me in particular had good writers. Well, I'll just have to live with it and move on I guess.

I enjoyed Trust Me a lot. I'm really pissed it's not coming back. It was entertaining and I felt it was a smart show. Damn, out of all the shows I watch, I enjoyed Trust Me in the top few.

I am so disappointed to find out at this very moment that this show was cancelled! First it aired on Monday a great night for creatives, then they switched it to Tuesday? Bad move!

As an agency owner I thought it was well written and exactly what happens in the industry. Acting was amazing, funny and entertaining. Opps no guns, drugs, violence - go figure!

Back in the day we gave it a longer run...to bad it was a great show!
