| loading

17 Again - the latest update on Big, starring Zac Efron - easily won the box office with a better than expected $24.1 million dollars. This is yet another successful opening for Efron, whose High School Musical 3 opened to $42 million dollars last year.

Taking the second spot was the political thriller State of Play (2009) starring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck, earning a modest $14.1 million dollars.

Monsters vs Aliens continued to haul in money, taking the #3 spot with another $12.9 million dollars. The film has now grossed an impressive $162 million dollars to date.

Other new release Crank 2: High Voltage opened at a somewhat disappointing 6th place and $6.5 million dollars.
