Review
This week's Heroes, 'I Am Sylar,' reiterated that Sylar is truly the coolest character. Sure, Hiro's adorable and I'll continue to root for Hiro and Ando to save the world, and the Petrellis are plenty intriguing, but can you really beat such a fascinating, conflicted character like Sylar?
Especially now that he has become an even more thrilling villain than in Season 1. In Season 1, he was just after the heroes we'd come to know and love to steal their powers, now he's after all the heroes to become the one and all-powerful hero left. Now that is what made me keep watching this somewhat waning 3rd season.
So in 'I Am Sylar,' there were some interesting developments in Sylar's powers as he woke up in a different form than the self he'd gone to sleep as, and he had an extra tooth in his mouth. Then he spent most of the episode having an inner struggle with his mother, cutting 'I Am Sylar' into his non-Sylar arm, saving 'Rebel,' and then near the end of the episode when Danko tried to take him down in the usual back-of-the-head vulnerable spot, it did not work. What is going on?? I don't believe any of us fans really want to see Sylar defeated at this point, but where can it go from here?
We saw Nathan step up and go confront the Nathan-Sylar which seems to be the focus of next week's finale, including some mental warfare since Sylar was able to learn everything about Nathan. Now that's an impossible enemy, is it not?
Besides the Sylar focus of this episode, we got a bit of development for Hiro and Ando deciding to fully team up, plus Matt deciding for the time being not be with his ex-wife and child, so will this mean Matt, Ando, and Hiro will be off to join in a more full hero battle, or will the focus be entirely on Nathan and Sylar battling it out?
I would imagine we'd get something more like the Season 1 finale where all our heroes come together to fight the good fight together, but who's meant to be defeated? Just Sylar? Danko? The entire Danko company? What do you think - what will go down in the big Season 3 finale battle? At this point, can there be peace with Sylar alive, and can there be a good show with Sylar dead?

i absolutely refuse for them to kill Sylar!! haha as if that would work :)
but really, i don't think sylar is meant to go down in the season finale. i expect nathan and peter to stop sylar from becoming the president, but i'm hoping somehow that the plot is for them to figure out a way to stop the government's manhunt of people with abilities, while still keeping sylar alive and killing people (cause we all know that's the coolest part of the show)
i have no freaking clue how sylar didn't die with that knife in his head....but a giant WOOT came out of me when he got back up. confusion and intrigue is what this show has going right now - and i LOVE IT!!
I totally agree, i cannot frolic through life knowing that sylar is dead.
Sylar is the glue that always holds the show together through tough times.
This episode was especially a showcase of Zachary quintos talent
he is an amazing actor and is definantly an excellent sylar.
The past 3-4 episodes have been really good episodes and i can only hope for a similar ending in season 1 ( a great ending with sylar still in-tact )
Peter touches baby matt parkman, and steals all of the powers from sylar like. Similar to how arthur patrelli stole peters powers.
i think that sense sylar can change his appearance and stuff, he was able to actually get rid of the spot on in his head. or maybe its something else. who knows.
Sylar should definitly not die but the writter should find a way to make him vulnerable and that he can be killed (like in season 1) but Sylar is really the one who makes the hole Heroes thing continue
Sylar is going to be in heroes for many more seasons to come.. But he would eventually self destruct for possessing too much abilities..
I think because he is a shape shifter, his back of the head vulnerability has been relocated or even worse removed..
Yeah.. Baby parkman touches peter and peter gets his old ability plus those he has acquired including arthur petrellis' and then he can take Sylar down..
But hopefully Sylar doesn't end up killing Rebel bcos that would be disgusting!
anyone else wondering why, if ando was able to boost daphne's ability, he cant just boost hiro and peter back to their normal ability?
i think if peter gets all his old powers back we will be back to square one-its season finale we all know somebodys gonna die.
To onesideddie -
Because Daphne still had her ability, whereas peter and hiro had theirs stolen.
!!!SPOILER!!!
peters ability hasnt actually changed - its linked to his emotions and while he is moody and withdrawn he isnt able to use his empathy to leech the abilities. - hence the reason why he currently seems to be only able to use one ability - through touch
I think Sylar altared his DNA so that the spot which kills him is somewhere else. He probably realised Danko would betray him and moved it with his new power. He probably has some kind of ability box in his chest or something. Or somewhere a bit more secret.
I hope Peter gets his ability back. Soon. Because I like the idea of two awesome powers going against each other! Petrelli vs. Sylar!
Nathan and Claire are getting too boring for me. Bring back Arthur!
to be honest, i have been waiting eagerly for 3 seasons for sylar to die. I'll be able to tolerate him being alive if peter becomes powerful again.
