once chloe exposed davis to the black kryptonite, the actual "doomsday" monster escaped davis and started taking over metropolis. clark went after him and did his business. so basically, it all comes down to the fact that doomsday IS gone. the explosion that clark sent him into killed him.

louis ISN'T gone because she slipped on the legion ring and went somewhere, no one's really sure of that.

oliver was right about davis. even if doomsday escaped him, he's still a monster himself, and therefore he killed jimmy out of jealousy and anger. and jimmy came back and killed davis right before he tried to kill chloe.

in the end, jimmy, davis, and doomsday dies.

i didn't really get the whole "clark's gone" thing. not sure if he's coming back or what. but chloe's pretty much all on her own.

and the person that came back at the end near the luthor mansion....that's confusing too. xD

i hope that helped a little.

I really didn't like that ending. Where is Lois?

That had to be the worst season finale ever. i felt like i missed half the episode because i was expecting at least a good fight between clark and doomsday but all it was, was 1 punch from doomsday and a charge attack from clark.

The episode was so confusing at times. there were no thrills or parts that were interesting besides the part were clark was talkin to lois on the phone and lois dissapearing with the ring. im not even looking forward to find out who the man is at the end since no information at all was given for us to think about. smallville has lost its touch. its getting worse and worse.

I do agree with all y'alls viewpoints but isn't Doomsday the last episode of Smallville? I think they could have ended it so much better, How do they end it with Clark just waking out on Chloe when they've been friends pretty much all their lives? This really takes the crown for worst finale ever lol.

Yes it was a bad finale but the guy at the end being Zod is pretty epic, that's what next season is surrounding I'm guessing. Unless that wasn't Zod then I'm totally lost on who that was.

But everything tries to match in a certain way the comic of superman's death. That doomsday isn't dead just trapped below the ground on earth. And years later he will actually come back and kill superman.

But the Zor thing... mmmmm...it will be nice to see mongul against superman, in the season to come. General Zod, its one of the powerful villains but... I vote for Mongul.

This episode was almost as bad as the Lana cry fest in the middle of the season. Doomsday gets buried and Jimmy Olson dies WTF????? Jimmy Olson can't die.

.............And what was that about Oliver and the others gone?? The entire conversation with Chloe in the end was really reality bending. I didn't understand that at all.

The dude in the end would probably be Zod, mostly, even though he has made an appearance in the series in the the past. He may make a comeback on a much larger scale to kick more ass.

All in all, quiet disappointing. After a largely great season (minus the Lana episodes) the finale was a let down. I just wish the writers would get on with it already. 8 seasons of will he wont is enough. I think its time for Clack Kent to become Superman now or the show will loose some serious viewership.

I have to say I was disappointed by that, How can they kill off jimmy?? maybe they plan to make clark go to the future in season 9 save lois and find some way to fight doomsday again ( a better fight this time, i mean even the little scuffle between lois and tess was better than tht fight!) in turn savin jimmy. I mean what the hell? there was tht sweet moment when jimmy finally found out about clark then they just killed him off gimme a break!!!! i am honestly disappointed. And to top it off clark becomes a non-person in the end when Zod appears on the scene leaving his bestie of all time (chloe) hanging! NOT GOOD!!!

did anybody see chloe reach for her stomach at the end? Pregnant?

as for clark no longer being "human" u should see the Doomsday movie... it shows how a "new superman" comes to metropolis... still wants to save the world but has a different approach on doing so... maybe the writers are feeding off of that story... all in all .... this episode was ok... i wouldnt say it was the best... actually it was ok ... but the whole doomsday battle sucked

Its definetleyZod at the end. And lois with the legion ring is going to wipe away most of this episode anyway. That was the writers loopehole in case this episode sucked. As far as clark gone, "not yet" superman is telling chole that the clark kent side(human side) is gone.

Well so Zod will be in the next series... Woopwoop!!!

Still waiting on clark and lois getting together.... i think that will be awesome. Really hoped it would happen in this episode but no. the writers were BAMS!

I'm thinking..... Maybe..... Jimmy's little brother got the coolbeans camera and will then go on to inherit the nickname Jimmy also and become the real Jimmy Olsen that we all know and love and also, this Jimmy won't know about Clark's secret..

    Aye?!?!?!

i thought cloe had magical life saving meteor powers! WTF? why didn't she save jimmy?! and yeah, jpmorris77 i really hope lois wipes away the part with jimmy dying. or at least shows up at that exact moment and whispers to cloe "hey...don't you have magical healing abilities? you should totally try and use them to save THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE!". god, so dumb.

first of all i wanna say that i think this episode sucked... i mean really there was no point in saving the "human" part of davis because he still turns out to be a murderer. and then jimmy dies?? no... he just learns clark's secret and him and chloe can finally be together with no secrets and they all can work together. i think that clark should go back in time with the legion ring later and just kill davis and doomsday like oliver said. then jimmy won't die. and i still think he should tell jimmy his secret. i mean like he said jimmy was the only one smart enough to put the pieces together. he should tell lois too. they should get together. oh and chloe lost her healing powers in black creek. remember thats why she couldn't save powerless clark when oliver shot him.
