Since True Blood is now back on HBO for its second season at 9PM, SideReel has vampires on our minds.
We started to wonder...what would happen if some of the most known vampires from both TV and film faced off against one another in a battle? Who would emerge victorious? That's for you to decide! Help us out by voting in our Ultimate Vampire Face-Off!
Round 1 begins now and will end tomorrow (Saturday) at 2PM PST.
Update: Round 2 voting has now begun. Please choose your new 4 winners.
Update 2: Round 3 voting has started! Choose your victors between Angelus vs. Spike (epic!) and Dracula vs. Lestat.
Update 3: It's the final Showdown! We're left with 4th seed Spike (defeating Angelus 120-88) versus 2nd seed Dracula (defeating Lestat 115-82). Vote for your ultimate vampire! Winner declared tomorrow at 2PM PST.
Final Update: Spike wins in a landslide victory. Not even the legendary Dracula is a match for everyone's favorite platinum haired vamp from the Buffyverse!

Read the book / watch the film Lestat is practically indestructible there is no way anyone on the list could match up to him (except maybe Dracula). Superhuman, strength, speed and stamina plus flight, telepathy and superhuman memory retention. In addition to vast amounts of charm and street sense how could any of the others beat him? Bear in mind all these gifts exist prior to the second film / book.

I might hate the twilight series with a passion, but if we are going by just how strong they are shown to be, not by how cool. or how interesting the characters are the twilight vampires are the winners anyway you put it, they have marble hard skin, are not affected by sunlight, plus all the strength, agility and speed traits common with vampires, the only vampire on that list that even comes close is Lestat. Honestly what the heck?
Between Blade and Selene none of the other vampires can even come close.
Blade: A day walking vampire who specializes in killing other vampires... enough said.
Selene: A member of an elite unit who hunts werewolves, but ends up killing vampires instead.
How is this even a contest between the other vampires? The only real show would be if those two fought and Blade would probably end up winning that despite Selene being hot.

I'm another one who is not keen on the way the vampire has been bastardised by modern writers so as to make it more film-able.
Vamps don't twinkle in sunlight - they die. They can be staked by wood - even an arrow will do.
I don't like the re-'imagining' of the genre - it shows a lack of imagination and a need to have your guy win at all costs.
Angelus - for sure, not only does he have one of the coolest names for a vampire, but he has a 200 year history of ass kicking.
Spike - Although in the show Angel usually ended up winning against Spike, one way or another, I think Spike has an overall better character.
Dracula - As much as I love a hot chick in black tights, there is no way the O.G. vampire is going to get taken down by random girl.
Lestat - Blade is a badass, but his only a half of a badass.

Don't get me wrong, he's great and I love to watch him, but his badassery basically equals a sadistic schoolyard bully. Eric Northman has killed reams of vampires, werewolves, witches and fairies with swords, teeth and wits. He wins.
In the final showdown, the last fight they ever had, Spike beat Angel. Plus, let's face it. He's cooler. No brooding for Spike.
Selene looks way hotter in black spandexy leather than Dracula, plus Dracula is cliched times ten.
Blade is conflicted and cursed with a conscience. Lestat is not.
By the way, Eric Northman of True Blood is still pretty lame. He's done next to nothing on the TV show. Eric Northman of the Southern Vampire Mysteries books is something to behold.

I realize that Spike beat up Angel towards the end of season 5, but Angel isn't Angelus. They really are two different entities. Angelus is cunning and he'll really hit where it hurts while Spike seems to have some misplaced code of honour which I feel would make him weak in a fight against Angelus.

Ok. I've posted on this earlier, when I voted for Eric Northman over Angelus. (Which I fully stand behind. Eric Northman with sword, yowza.)
Angelus is hyped up quite often as being very, very evil. I just can't get behind it. He cackles. He plots. He's mean, he kills pets. Often he's most dangerous mentally. When it comes to a fight, he just takes too damn long. He'll make a speech that makes Buffy cry, but he never actually killed or even really hurt her.
Spike on the other hand is pure, adrenaline fight. Get his rage up and in a one on one fight he'd definitely win.
As for the other fight, I don't really care. I choose Lestat because I think Dracula is hackneyed.

Also, most popular mythology places Dracula as only a few centuries old, Lestats powers have been said to match those of vampires who have survived thousands of years. So it really doesnt matter what kind of mysticism dracula brings to the table. Lestat would look at him, think "burst into flames", and dracula would be done.

Love Dracula, but... as somebody mentioned before comparing Angelus to Dracula, the Count isn't a very agressive, proactive fellow; he's pretty laid-back and more of a plan-it-out-first type of guy. Spike is a soulless, vicious killer, and later on an iron-willed, bad-ass champion. Conclusion: Spike would kick Dracula's ass all over the place.
