The Hangover Hangs On to No. 1 - Featured

| loading

Moviegoers are still feeling The Hangover: The bawdy comedy reeled in $33.4 million to retain the box-office crown for the second week in a row. It is also the first summer movie to hold the No. 1 spot for two consecutive weeks. The Hangover has now grossed $105.3 million in 10 days.

Coming in second was Up, with $30.5 million. The animated film's cumulative total now stands at $187.2 million, making it summer's second highest grosser behind Star Trek. Star Trek finished in seventh place, adding $5.6 million for a total of $232 million.

Raking in a solid $25 million, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 debuted in third place--a far more respectable opening than that of the weekend's other new release, Imagine That. The Eddie Murphy comedy bowed in sixth place with $5.4 million.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian ($9.6 million) and Land of the Lost ($9.1 million) landed in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Rounding out the top 10 were: Terminator Salvation (No. 8, $4.6 million); Angels & Demons (No. 9, $4.2 million) and Drag Me to Hell (No. 10, $3.8 million).
