Weeds, Breaking Bad, The Wire: Who's the Coolest Drug Dealer of Them All? - Featured

| loading

Now that we've hit the lighter summer TV season, I've been catching up on favorites I let slide during the fall TV season, and also catching those shows on my to-watch list.

So while recently catching up on the amazing finale of Breaking Bad, digging into Season 1 of Weeds, and devouring Season 4 of The Wire, I began to wonder how my TV world became so packed full of not only drug-related shows, but unusual drug dealers!

Breaking Bad and Weeds are especially atypical in that they feature suburbanites thrown into drug dealing under unfortunate circumstances. Both drug dealing main characters find themselves in desperation to make lots of money, and fast. The Wire, on the other hand, has some more typical drug dealers on the rough streets of Baltimore, but still has some intriguingly unusual guys like Stringer Bell who attends business classes at a community college to learn to be a better businessman in his particular line of business.

So, while of course we're all smart enough (and learn enough lessons from the trouble these guys and gals do get in) to know drugs and drug dealing is not cool, these shows all provide some absolutely intriguing characters and plotlines circulating around a fascination with these unusual drug dealers and their stories, and let's face it - these characters in the TV world, are seriously cool in their toughness and creative ways of entering and dealing with the drug world.

So, in that light, who would you say is the coolest, most clever, most intriguing, and unusual drug dealer of them all? Feel free to add in anyone I've missed!

Weeds - Nancy Botwin

Breaking Bad - Walter White

The Wire - Stringer Bell, Avon Barksdale, Omar Little

Who else?

Walter White is it for me, definitely. The original Nancy would have been a very very very close second, before the whole fire incident..but she hasnt been the same since so she's gone further down the list.

Ive never watched 'the wire' so no comment there...but this post has definitely intrigued me enough to check it out this summer...

Disclaimer: I do not condone drug peddling. With that said, I'm gonna go with Nancy. She's hot ;)

You are missing one of the baddest men (drug dealers) ever for "The Wire": Marlo Stanfield. Him and Omar made that show amazing television

@otto8516 - thanks for that addition! I'm just getting to know the awesomeness of Marlo in Season 4, so I'm excited to see him develop!

Also, a note on Omar, if you're missing him post-Wire, I just got to watch the pilot of The Philanthropist and I happily discovered Omar, aka Michael K. Williams, is a sidekick-type character who seems like he'll be showing up a good amount in future episodes.

Jorge Garcia (Lost, Hurley) guest starred in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm as a drug dealer - the one with the baseball game/carpool lane. I was amused - just to see him in that context, though of course it was a very minor role.

    Omar aint a drug dealer,

    He robs drug dealers!!!!!

    Omar Comin ya ll!!!!!!!!!!!

Marlo's character in the wire was so evil, remorseless cold, the one thing they did nt focus on in the Wire was why the soliders follow the main leaders, obviously money and power, but maybe It would have been intersting to explore that side of it, I dunno.

Anyway I dont like drug dealers so I m going with Omar Little, such a crap way to kill him off as well. Oh and Bubbs has given up his life of being a crack junkie and joined John Connors resistance on TTSCC, well done buibbs!!!!:)

Come on! Stringer Bell and Avon were insanely badass. Same with Proposition Joe, he knew how the game worked.

actually, omar IS a drug dealer...what do you think he does with the packages he steals? the first glimpse we get of omar as a dealer is in season 1 when he's posted up on the steps with brandon and the other member of his early stick-up crew (right before barksdale's crew snatches up brandon and leaves him on the hood of a car...) - remember when the young mother/fiend asks "mr. omar" to front her? he has youngen's to handle the product, but he definitely deals what he steals.

of course, once chris and snoop kill butchie, omar starts robbing marlo's crews just to rob them...dumping packages down storm drains and leaving buckshot in people's legs. I'd like to see nancy botwin shooting it out with a stashhouse worth of muscle in the middle of a street in broad daylight. then she can top this list.

omar little. most intriguing "dealer" on tv.

Having seen and been a fan of all three, I have to go with Walter White. Breaking Bad is the best show on television.

Best Drug Dealer has to be between Prop Joe and Avon.

Stringer was Avon's lieutenant and Omar is not a drug dealer he's a Robber. If sum1 robbs your house and sells the items, does that make them a retailer.

And Marlo, he was just a cold blooded Criminal, however his last scene was Awesome!!

i thought this was suppose to be who is the coolest dealer not the best? ok prop joe knew the game but he wasnt cool he was a fat slob who pretended to fix things.avon he was so good it landed him in jail if you ask me bell was better but still none of them are cool. i agree if nancy wouldve stayed they same like season 1 she would have been cool now shes just a slut why is the show even called weeds anymore. i dont really watch breaking bad but i think he was and still is a teacher and a meth dealer haha thats cool. as far as the wire goes marlo was my favorite

Walter White for me. Old Nancy used to be a great drug dealer but now she's having babies and stuff and I just think the second season of Breaking bad was amazing.
