A movie?

| loading

Channel 4 had this discussion on their site, and I thought it'd be interesting to dicuss it here.

Channel 4 is wondering if the viewers would like to watch a Skins movie... or we'd rather watch a new season? both? If you'd like a movie, which cast would you prefer? the old one? the new one? both?

if there was a movie i would definitely pick the old cast, but i just don't think a movie could do them justice - a movie dynamic might work out better with the new cast though

I miss the old cast too! but the new one is growing on me (I'm currently in the middle of the third season). I don't think there should be a movie -at all. The reason? I think it'd become a longer episode.

the beauty of Skins is in the uniqueness of the way they tell the story, each episode focuses on one, all characters are important, thats the dynamic. I think this would be lost in a movie...I definitely think there should be a fourth season.

about the cast, I have grown to love the new one but I also miss the old one... thats a tricky one

Yeah, you're right. But I kinda thought they could tell the story in the movie through various episodes, each one named after a character. It has been done before...

Do you think both casts, together, would work fine? I mean, wouldn't it be too much?

Maybe they could get rid of some character... but, which one?

I'd prefer the old cast just to do a series, would n't really like a movie. I feel that the new series does n't really have a good storyline like the old one and with the older characters, you felt more involved them compared to the new one's which you don't. =[

i think a movie could work in conjunction with a series. the movie could be about the old cast, and how their lives are moving forward with uni, and the series about the new cast, with some crossovers inbetween... mmmm....

however, if i HAD to choose one or t'other, it'd have to be a new series with the new cast. they've really grown on me, bless their cotton socks!

I've just confirmed this will be the last season with the new cast. But this doesn't mean the old one will come back, though. The series consists in two seasons for every generation, which means a new one will be presented for the fifth season (that means 2010, they're already shooting season four with Effy and her gang).

The idea is to follow the lives of every generation that arrives to their school, that way they achieve younger viewers while the ones who are already following the series either continue watching or decide to rewatch (which means buy) the older seasons... nicely done, I must say.

What do you guys think? Who will be the one that'll lead the third generation the way Effy did with the second? Will the series continue to be a hit, or will fall after changing cast again?
