Harry Potter's the New King of Midnight! - Featured

The kid beat Batman. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince scored a king-size $22.2 million from midnight screenings this morning, Warner Bros. reported. The total bests the old record, held by none other than The Dark Knight, by nearly $4 million.

To quote an email from the studio: "Wow."

As late as yesterday afternoon, with reports of sold-out screenings mounting, Warner Bros. was playing it cool. "It's hard to really tell where things are going," exec Dan Fellman told E! News.

It's not so hard to tell anymore.
