Fav Detectives: Nominate your Favorite TV Detectives! - Featured

| loading

Nominations are now closed. Come join in the voting round to determine the top dog TV detective on SideReel:

Fav Detectives: Vote for your Favorite TV Detectives!

Our very favorite USA Network detectives return this Friday, August 7th as Psych kicks off its 4th season, and Monk begins its 8th and final season!

As these mysterious and fun new seasons start up, we want to know if Adrian Monk, Shawn Spencer, Burton 'Gus' Guster, or another TV detective holds the high honor of SideReel's very favorite TV detective.

Do you prefer the silliness of Psych's beloved duo, the endearing neurosis of Monk's genius, the spunky, quirkiness of Veronica Mars, or maybe the seriousness of CSI: Miami's Horatio Caine?

Nominate your favorite TV detectives from classic to current, and choose as many as you like! Also, feel free to mention a detective already nominated by another Reeler as after this nominations round, we'll choose the top 10 nominated detectives to have a face-off for the title of SideReel's very favorite detective!

Shawn and Gus!! They are the perfect crime fighting duo. They solve crimes while making obscure 80's references, creating sweet aliases, and generally being hilarious. And don't forget the sweet hair! Pysch is the best because it doesn't pretend to take itself seriously

oh man veronica mars ftw but I absolutely adore Gus and Shawn as well as Monk. I don't know man I love VM because it was a kickass series but I have more LOL's with Gus and Shawn. And Monk is just good at anytime of day. This is a mean question!

Shawn (Psych), hands down. after him comes Cal Lightman (lie to me), then Richard Castle (Castle), then Jack Carter (Eureka). and yea, i also believe House gets special mention in this category, but its not his profession, so he doesn't make the list. i like Monk too, but his eccentricities irritate me a little to much for me to really like him.

Rebus is great. Gotta love a Scottish Detective who's two-drinks to the wind all the time. Seriously, the first time I read one of the books, every second sentence seemed to be "and then he ordered another scotch." The show is really great though.

But my other nomination would have to go to Angel. And Sam and Dean. Sure.. neither Angel, Sam or Dean is exactly a "detective" in the strictest legal sense of the word, but all of them have to do their homework and end up solving some sort of a case. And Angel really does have that classic film-noir detective style going for him most of the time. ... if only we could have seen David Boreanaz belting Peter Lorre around the room a little bit.

Has to be Veronica Mars surely... I have never watched a show with a more intelligent and sassy lead character like her before. She is a crime busting genius who happens to be hilarious at the same time. If I was murdered, I would definitely want her on the case, simple as.

If I were to be realistic though, I guess I should nominate anyone who has ever been on Law and Order like the late Jerry Orbach who played Lennie Briscoe. Yeah it isn't as glamourous as CSI, and the funny's don't come a long as often but Law and Order pretty much rewrote the crime genre and it is still going today. A lot of shows owe their existence to L & O.

    Charlie Crews - Life

Shawn and Gus, Lassiter and O'Hara - Psych

Richard Castle, Kate Beckett - Castle

Cal Lightman - Lie to Me

    Don Eppes - Numb3rs

(This list isn't really in order)

Sorry for double post, but also

Sherlock Holmes (played by Jeremy Brett in the BBC series) and Dr. Watson (played by Edward Hardwicke)

Truly the best Holmes and Watson I've ever seen.

Lord Peter Wimsey (played by Edward Petherbridge) in the BBC mini series from the 80s based on Dorothy Sayers' novels Strong Poison, Have His Carcase, and Gaudy Night is also a very clever detective. Also, Harriet Vane (played by Harriet Walter) contributes.

I have to agree with dude above me, Sherlock Holmes BBC i seen them all.

Also I want to nominate """Robert Goren""" from Law and Order Criminal Intent first 3 seasons, his knowledge about so many odd jet usefull aspect of life, the way he sneak up to people and slowly gets in their head, and his advers variet of never shown jet utterly usefull friend make him, make him in my opinion the best of all Law and Order series, and what would this contest be without Law and Order, the origin of Detective TV series of the last few years, lets face it, Monk deterctive techniek look alot like those of Goren, if you take away his fears odd behavior, you got Goren including an assisten.

Anyone who nominates Eppes must be a mentally disabled person, I wonder if he can tie his shoes, or if he needs help getting the TV on and to the right channel,

and who typed in his nominations?

  55. jaivomi Send a Compliment - 12:44 PDT, 4 August, 2009

Everyone is choosing classic detectives! I didn't think they would stand a chance but as others are doing it I am going to do another post...

The original Charlies Angels. Ok so maybe not the BEST detectives in the world but for a time it was the number one detective show (in the world) so I definitely think they deserve a mention. And hey, have you ever seen them not solve a case? I don't think so...

Another of my faves has to be Jessica Fletcher from Murder She Wrote. However, after much deliberation I have decided not to nominate her as I always thought it was wierd LOTS of people seemed to meet a sticky demise when around her... Talk about cursed....

    So that is...

    -Veronica Mars,

    -Lenny Briscoe (Law and Order)

    -Original Charlies Angels

    -and (not) Jessica Fletcher lol.

half of these that people are posting shouldn't even qualify

Harry Dresden - Even thought the books are way better than the tv show... Plus he can set things on fire with his mind.

Gibbs - Who doesn't love a good head slap.

House - Always(Mostly) finds the perpetrating malady.

Cal Lightman - Incorrigible, scary stare, can read you like a neon sign.

Dr. Who - The angels have the phonebox!

    Brennen Booth - Ooo illiteration!

Angel - Season 1 before everyone went crazy and they sold out to Wolfram and Hart

Veronica Mars - Heard it was good(awesome)

That's all I can think of for now. I'm sure there are a whole lot more.

They whole of the NCIS team :-

Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Anthony DiNozzo, Ziva David, Timothy McGee, Abby Sciuto, Dr "Ducky" Mallard, Jimmy Palmer and former Special Agent Catlin Todd.

I was wondering if the people who are nominating people like Columbo and Miss Marple (ect) are doing so because they actually watch the show and think they're good or is it just because they are really famous detectives?
